Please excuse my stupidity but this is my third evenings I’m trying to convert several vobs into DVD (or avi so I can use authoring to burn it on into DVD) and i can't do it. I got ac3 and .v2d from dvd2avi. But how I create avi? Or what should I use to burn DVD? Sorry if my post upsets someone but I’m really getting frustrated.

Well, it's a bit hard to explain everything in detail here, but what you have done is to 'Save project' which will produce the .d2v and the .ac3 file. In order to get an AVI file you need to choose 'save AVI' instead. But in order to get something you can burn on a DVD and play in a regular DVD player you don't want AVI, you want MPEG-2. The MPEG-2 file then needs to be authored by a special program before you can burn it. Doom9 (http://www.doom9.org/) has a lot of guides on the subject. Read them all (twice) before you continue. Or look at the proggies in the
'One click DVD backup solutions' forum (http://forum.doom9.org/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=65).

When i "save AVI" the dvd2avi does the work in seconds and my avi file is 0kB. I have Studio 8 to re-authoring avi to DVD. My kid's DVD is permanently damaged but I was able to extract 9:16 main movie. Not having CCE I don’t know how to create DVD.(I have all freebies and IC7 and Pinnacle’s Studio 8). Please someone guide me what the next.

If you want to create AVI's I strongly recommend you to stick to doom9's DivX/XVid-guides.
