After hours of encoding and watching compares, me came the idea to automate and (try) to standardize the PSNR testing process for XviD on Doom9 with Avisynth, so the PSNRLab idea was born and now it's here the first full automatic 64 combinations XviD PSNR test. It's for the moment only working with Devapi-4 XviD builds, support for Devapi-3 (Koepi build) is on the todo list, any feature requests or ideas are welcome. I hope this can be in it's current status of any use for someone. Special thx goes out to Superdump for implementing most of these tests. For more indepth information please read the readme that comes with it :)

have fun

Cool :D
Thx to you and Superdump for this, can't wait for dev3 support and/or a public dev4build to test it. ;)

We'll be uploading a new version sometime today probably. I've added the rest of the combinations to make it up to the full 64. We have hardcoded all combinations of qpel, gmc, vhq4, b-frames, chroma motion and trellis.

CruNcher and I will look into dev-api-3 shortly. :)

Note: You have to extract these files over your current install... but then you all guessed that already. :)

Where can I find a Devapi-4 build? Do you suggest I use Devapi-4 if high quality is my pursuit?

You can't get a public build yet, Nic or Koepi or Umaniac haven't made one yet. Best way to get one is to do a cvs checkout and build it yourself or maybe hang around on irc and someone might give you one.
EDIT: Also, in order to get high quality you don't need a dev-api-4 build but it always helps to have a build with the latest changes, fixes etc of course. Probably, dev-api-4 contains more of the latest things so maybe it would give higher quality, maybe not. Take a look at CruNcher's PSNR table for Devapi3_vs_Devapi4andKauehi here PSNR Table (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=57706)

As far as i can see, the batch uses @REG commands heavily to do its magic.
It's probably some (silent) order to update the registry, but all i get is a long list of "command not recognized" on my w98se box.
Is that internal, external , only in newer M$ OSes or else ;)

Any idea ?

TIA, Pulse

You require reg.exe from Windows XP. (Win2k and earlier don't have it. It's only in XP.) I'm asking CruNcher to upload it for you now...
