Burn problems with Nero

I have a strange problem with Nero 5.5.10.35. When I burn DVD´s with my pioneer dru-510a firmware 1.0c using Datawrite 4x dvd-r it seems like it only burns in 2x though the program reports writing in 4x. It autosenses the record and automatically suggests the fastest speed (4x) and when it has finished writing it says "burn successfully completed at 4x" but it takes about 30 min eg. 2x speed when it should take like 15-18 min?. I have udma on, and the films are ok to watch no problems there. Its just that i burn 2x instead of 4x...
Anyone have a clue to what might be the problem?

Do other programs have the same problem?

If you're running XP, screwing DMA is a common problem.

I believe to get around it (and ensure the drive REALLY is in DMA mode), you need to remove the ide controller from within device manager, reboot and let windows find it again.

Without DMA on, the best you'll get is 2x.
