G'day

got some mpg files from VCDs & SVCDs that a friend had copied directly off a VCD/SVCD. I tried a mpg1 file and burnt it as a vcd using nero. It complained about it not being standard. Yet the formats are right when I checked it out. the resolution, frame rate and audio are all right. So i burnt it anyways. The resulting VCD does not plays... well it does but stutters and freezes.

Do i have to do something to be able to burn them back as a vcd/svcd?

i'm assuming when you said "mpg files from VCDs" you meant *.dat -> *.mpg (vcdgear) and not renaming *.dat -> *.mpg cause there is a difference (don't know what, but there is)

i have a lot of standard compliant vcd *.mpg, but when i cut some frames out with Myflix, it's no longer standard compliant; even though the res, fps, and audio are still the same, so what i do is just re-multiplex in tmpgenc and it fixes everything (for me anyway)

notice how a said "re-multiplex" and not "de-multiplex" and then "multiplex" just load you *.mpg into the Simple Multiplex (MPEG1 VideoCD), change the Output File to a different name and hit run.

I know a lot of ppl that has not acquired the finer taste of VCD/SVCD ... and they all just drag the *.DAT file or the MPG file off the CD (COPY!!!)

They did not use something like VCDGEAR to extract the mpg files.

I didnt try the remuxing method .. I'll play with it in TMPGENC and see how I go.

Thanks!
