Backgroud Info-
Hardware: 877 MHz PIII, 256MB SDRAM
Software: DVD2SVCD 1.1.3b2, TMPGEnc Plus 2.512.52.161
DVD2SVCD settings: st'd VCD and my own XVCD, both have disk image buil turned off
Video Source: DVD movie, selected only the 1st chapter for test
I was going to convert the DVD to XVCD (CBR, 1595kbps). I first tried the DVD2SVCD's standard VCD setting and it went OK (up to TMPGEnc encoding - saw the movie in the preview window) so I terminated the process before it finished video encoding. Then, I tried my own XVCD setting and let DVD2SVCD completed the whole process. The results was good when I played back the muxed (final) video. Finally, I start over the process, use the XVCD settings, for the whole DVD movie. Once the video encoding process started, a completely green screen showed up in the preveiw window. I waited for about an hour, it still had no movie screen showed up but only this completely green screen. I stopped the process, went back to re-do the first two trials (1st chapter only, st'd VCD and XVCD settings) and got green screen too. No matter what I try, it only got green screen.
So, I decided to uninstall and reinstall the TMPGEnc and DVD2SVCD. This time I did the following tests with the 1st chapter of movie:
1. st'd VCD settings but no disk image build
It went OK and I stopped the process before the video encoding is completed.
2. my XVCD settings (the exact same setting file used before)
It alos went OK and I stopped the process as in "1".
3. Repeat "1"
It went OK. Again, the process was stopped before the video encoding was finished.
4. Repeat "1", but let DVD2SVCD completed the process
It went OK. The muxed MPEG-1 file played back fine.
5. Repeat "1" again
The green screen came back through out the whole video encoding.
6. Repeat "2"
Same thing - green screen only.
It seems that whenever I interrupted the video encoding process, it will still work fine next time. If I let the complete conversion process went through, the video encoding will not work any more unless I uninstall and reinstall both DVD2SVCD and TMPGEnc.
