View Full Version : problem menu with break layer

I'm still mising something. The last
test was unsucessfull, I was able to encode the video to 4.3 gigs but when
I,m playing the image, I have a menu (after hours of trieds) but when I
forward, the player lost track and crash.

my dvd is Albator 78 vol 4 in PAL format.
1 - I use dvddecrypter to dump and iso without CSS on my HD.
2 - mount the iso
3 - using DIF4U
4 - Reautorist
5 - CCE
6 - Scenarist
7 - IFOUpdate (original DVD, and the TS_Video from scenarist)
8 - imgtool -> nero
9 - mount the nero image
10 - watch it with powerdvd

there is only one audio track (french) and no extra.

that's the info from DIF4U :

VTS 01 14 mb
VTS 02 6520 mb
PGC 01 - 03:26:55:18
PGC 02 - 03:26:54:13

info from IFOEDIT :

I use a screenshoot, it will be easier for you to read.

I tried last night to rip the dvd with DIF4U demux by vob-id or cell-id, but
Reautorist is not able to read the vob, saying the format is not
supported... I think it's only read a complete dump from DIF4U.

Hi

I spent 5 minutes calculating before I noticed the obvious. Have another
look at your vts02 directory: the following (amongst other things) is in
there:

06/26/2003 22:11 6 437 495 341 VTS__02_P01.4~3_1.M2V
06/26/2003 22:24 6 437 277 574 VTS__02_P02.4~3_1.M2V

In total, your VTS02 directory contains 24 File(s) 13 176 347 983 bytes
which is way beyond the capacity of a DVD-9 disc. Thus, what we're dealing
with here is multiangles or seamless branching or another tpye of video that
needs to be processed by VOB ID. I'm sure that if you check out your IFO
file and compare it against the document where I explain when to and when
not to process by VOB ID you'll find that it falls in the category where you
have to process by VOB ID. In those two abovementioned files, you'll find
that most of the VOB and Cell IDs are actually identical and of course if
you add things the main movie twice instead of one that's going to have an
impact on the bitrate. In fact you should have a bitrate that's twice as
high if you do it by VOB ID because you're not encoding redundant data (IC7
doesn't encode that either, that's why you found its results better than
dif4u and Co).

P.S. Please post any further questions in the forum.

I believe that this title is a seamless branching title, just as Doom9 said. You need to rip it by vobid in DIF4U. These titles are not handled by Reauthorist so you have to author it manually in scenarist. The guide to how to do this can be found here: http://www.doom9.org/mpg/Seamless_Branching.htm

thanks I'll try that... but How can I keep the menu ?

there is layer break, so they won't be generated with CEE. How Can I extract the menu from the original TS_VIDEO can recreate it ?

ex: if the chapter 1 finish at 1:00.45 and chap2 start at 1.01.00. How I create these chapter in Scenarist ?

I tried for a week, but still not be able to do that... the vob generated with Scenarist and CCE had an amazing quality, but when I seek in the movie, PowerDVD and others players start playing the movie in FF and I think they crash at the end..

if that can help :
I obtain this when I open vts-02.vob in IFOEDIT

PCG_1 .... uses VOB-IDs:1 cell:39
ch 01 pg 01 cell 01 V/C id: 1/1 time:....
ch 02 pg 02 cell 02 v/c id: 1/2 layer break time:...
ch 03 pg 03 cell 03 V/C id: 1/3 time:....

...

PCG_2 .... uses VOB-IDs:1 cell 36
ch 01 pg 01 cell 01 V/C id: 1/1 time:....
ch 02 pg 02 cell 02 v/c id: 1/2 layer break time:...
ch 03 pg 03 cell 03 V/C id: 1/3 time:....

The menu should be in the vts_0*_0.vob's and you should not touch those files. Use DIF4U and let it create the VIDEO_TS folder for you. The menu files should then be located in that folder together with all the ifo and bup files.

I have 2 options here : there is an option in DIF4U for generated TS_VIDEO with DVDDecrypter. I use that... but the menu won't point it the right place. I have a maybe 6-7 layer break, and at the end in the menu the chapter X will start at 2:34:20 but since I don't have layer break with CEE, Chapter X will point in a middle of the part. Not sure How change that

Other point.. in DIF4U when you extract by VOB-ID.. in the TS_VIDEO there will have vob..0.._menu1.vob and vob..0.._menu2.vob

and I dont have them when I extract by PCG. do you have any idea on that ?

maybe it's explain in the guide you point to me.. I'll try that tonight.
