Hi,

I've been searching the forum for answers but haven't found precisely what I'm looking for. Though this problem seems to crop up quite frequently in the forum. I'm experiencing a volume loss in the final divx that I play. I use DVDecrypter to rip the DVD and demux the ac3 track, Gknot to encode Video, and I use AVIMux to mux the raw AC3 and the divx 5.05 avi. When I play back the final avi through WMP 9, the volume is really very low, even lower than the raw AC3 played through Creative Playcenter. I've seen suggestions related to normalisation - making the lows higher, and the highs lower, but I don't want to alter the range of sound, I just want to step up volume of the whole ac3 track. The other suggestion I've seen relates to AC3filter for post processing. But then this limits me to using AC3filter to decode rather than using a (possibly better) hardware decoder. Is it possible at all to increase the volume on the AC3 itself? Is there any way to increase gain on the AC3 without re-encoding - i.e, everything else remain the same except the volume. Looking forward to your help on this one. Thanks!

Cheers,
Rohan

Well, I use the Intervideo ac3 decoder, as bridge to the Cyberlink one. I mean, I installed the intervideo ac3 decoder, have the latest PowerDVD installed, and instead of selecting Intervideo, I select Cyberlink in the configuration of BSPlayer.

When you play your AVI file in BSPlayer, right click on the video window, select properties -> cyberlink bla bla bla, and go to the latest tab. There you select "noisy environment" and click OK. Your sound will get much louder! ;)

Wouldn't this alter the dynamic range of the track? I was looking for a solution which would maintain this and also if possible be independent of the player used. Is it possible to boost gain on the ac3 before muxing?

Cheers!
