Hi, I have problem with creating DVD-Video. I haven't any errors while creating disk image. Movie plays very strange. Let me explain details.
I have 1 video track with 3 audio streams:
video: VBR, 2700kbps average, 7000kbps max
1 audio: AC3 DD 2.0 192kbps
2 audio: MPEG3 112kpbs
3 audio: MPEG3 112kpbs

Movie has many chapters (about 40). I use standalone player (BBK919) and PC DVD-ROM (ASUS616).

On the PC playing is OK. On BBK919 I have problems:
1) If I switch between 1 audio stream and other I have no sound about 5 seconds. After that sound appears back but it has delay with movie (those 5 seconds). Switch between MPEG3 audio streams is OK.

2) If I navigate though scenes (chapters) and AC3 audio stream is selected about half of scenes start with no sound. It apears like after switching between audio streams but delay has range from part of second to 5 seconds.

3) If I play movie and AC3 audio stream is selected after 10 monutes of play of video starts to jump. Sometimes it run faster, sometimes slower. And after that video and audio begin to has time delay.

I'm curious about it. Image on HDD plays perfect. DVD-R on PC has time jumps (like my PC is too slow) but video and audio are syncronized.

I have one more question. If selected video track in track editor its audio streams have combobox to select language and big check button. I haven't got description of this check button. What is it? In one project I pressed it and it became disabled. How can I enable it back?

Rustam, what u r describing is an alien to the dvd disc family.

Let me suggest that the 2nd and 3d audio is NOT mp3 but mp2 audio, this will put the problem in perspective.

I had a similar problem on my old days on svcd and a Philips standalone. Whenever I changed audio it was unsynced by 12 to 15 frames, the most, and it didn't start right away. As u can see it is exactly your problem.

My remote control had a jog dial that enabled me to correct the sync between audio and video.

Try to talk to their support team. There is nothing wrong with your disk. It is the standalone's fault that it can't read it right. I bet that if u try a different brand it will be OK.

Alien?

Yes, I was wrong about 2nd 3d audio streams. They are mp2. You are right. I've forgot also to say that video is NTSC 29.9 made from 23.97+pulldown. Source was divx with 23.97fps.

My audio-async are not abount 12-15 fps. They are about several seconds.

I haven't jog dial to syncronize and I don't want to do it. As I said every 10-20 minutes video and audio become asyncrinized.

I guess it's becouse that checkbox in track editor meaning of which I don't know.

About my brand... I'd like to get more facts to be sure about it's fault.

I have 2 facts.

1) I played this disk on my friend's BBK919. It has the same problems, but my model newer then his model.

2) This disk is second version of the same movie. My friend has first version and I work on second. In the first version we used CBT 2700 (in the second VBR 1500-7000, 2700 average).
a. It hasn't problem with syncronization during audio switching. Audio is off several seconds but when it starts it's syncronized. In my version sound starts from moment I've decided to switch sound => sync. problem.
b. If I go through chapters in first version about 2 chapters have problem like mine. they starts without sound and video begin to jitter in vertical direction and run slower. But in 1-2 seconds sound appears and video is sycrinized with it.

Since your video is NTSC, have u taken any consideration the drop frame flag. It is the most common problem NTSC movies r having and it is causing async audio and subs.

Other than this, my 1st suggestion remains. Pls check the quality of the player's playback.

Since you are NTSC, MP2 audio is not a legal audio format for you. Convert your track 2 and 3 audios to .AC3. Be sure to have TIME INDEXES in your audio streams.

I guess I have problems with my memory. I have too many facts so I forget to tell all of them. I've remembered more details. I'm so sorry that I made you think and didn't tell all about subject.

As I said before I have 1 video stream and 3 audio streams. Video stream is 1 file. Each audio streams contains 3 parts (9 audio-parts at all). When I made ac3 files I didn't detected its difference from mp2 files. Duration of audio parts are like this:
ac3 mp2
1 1:01:05.12 1:01:05.13
2 1:05:03.05 1:05:03.05
3 0:58:15.00 0:58:13.10

This isn't times of my audio parts but I wanna tell that 1st part is 1 frame or 1msec shorter and 3d part is about 1 sec shorter. It can be matter.

Then, about drop frame flag. I cannot check it becouse my project is in another PC now. I think that I didn't set drop frame flag but I'll see it later.
We really had problems with subtitles. It looked like subtitle time isn't movie time. My pal (who has 1st version of disk) modified subtitle time scale to make text be shown at correct time.

Then about your 1st suggestion. BBK's players are very popular in our country (Russia) but I'll try to check my disk in another standalone player.

I have NTSC video and in video track should be al last 1 ac3 audio stream. mp2 audio streams are not required to be supported. PAL is video standart in out dvd-region so mp2 is supported and play perfectly. ac3 douesn't play perfectly. I don't remember anything about TIME INDEXES in scenarist ac3 encoder.

So I think to make experiments:
1) toggle drop frame flag
2) encode ac3 audio with TIME INDEXES (to be sure)

It will take about a week. Thank you for advices.

I've checked my project. It has "non-drop frames". I changed all NTSC-dependent data to "drop frames" and created disk image. Problems with time appeared and they are visible on PC. Audio is no syncronized and subtitles are time-shifted too. I think option "non-drop frames" was correct.

I've looked at scenarist ac3 encoder and I didn't found option "TIME INDEXES" there.

u have to check the option prior of inserting the assets. If u do it afterwards it wont do anything.

It's too bad... If I remove this track and must to create menu again. My movie has over 40 chapters. Menu contains 2 chapter menus (1-20,21-40). After track removing I must insert it back, add audio streams, add subtitles, set chapters, fill all buttons in menu (there are about 400 buttons). It's not the besi idea.
I cannot change parameters of data etc in project while it's used. To chenge "non-drop" to "drop" I exported project. replaced it there and imorted modified project. Do you think "non-drop" and "drop" differs not only in this parameter?

well I would pray that they do, but I don't think so. Just build and find out. I think that during import of the assets, there r flags to be set.

It's easy to check. I just need to create 2 test projects. In first project I must make video "non-drop" and in second project - "drop". I'll export those projects and compare their script files. I'll check.

I've created simple project with 1 small mpeg2 video and 1 still image (only data, no tracks). I made exported them with "non-drop" and "drop" flags. The only difference I've seen was string with "non-drop frames" and "drop frames". All other parameters were the same.
I'm going to make another test: every audio stream must contain 1 audio file.
