What audio format do you encode? I searched the forum and found that some people choose format depending on if its 1CD or 2CD. I'm trying to encode Band of Brothers, which is about 1hour per episode (1CD per eps). AC3 gives quality audio but its much larger than mp3 or Ogg. I noticed that people take Ogg over mp3. Any suggestions will help. Thanks.

Its simple :

- If you want a Stereo track, go for Vorbis ( Ogg ), either in OGM or MKV container

- If you want to pertain the 5.1 DD surround sound, use AAC 5.1 in MKV container ( but thats still complicated to make those files, just a warning )

Once Ahead will release Nero6 with HE-AAC encoder ( AAC Plus, AAC SBR ) it may be necessary to rethink things, we'll see ....

hi,

that's not quite right, if you want 5.1 DD (DolbyDigital) surround sound, you have to either keep it as is or transcode it to another bitrate. once you encode to aac, you loose the advantages of dd (large compatibility on standalones, industry-standard...).
