Hey guys,

Still new at this BIG 3. I am working on Glen Gary Glen Ross (this happens with other DVD's as well, happened with Tron - Special Edition). DIF4U rips apart the DVD. Now even if I UNCHECK VTS 2 & 3 (which have extras) it rips vts_02_0.vob (expected) but then it rips vts_02_1.vob which is 1 gig in size. It then opens ReAuthorist and it reads the directory. If I do NOT delete the vts_02_1.vob and do a get VTS Sec in IFOEdit, it predicts the final VIDEO_TS normally (with the file size of the extras predicted). If I do delete it (to gain space for precious encoding room) and do a get VTS in IFOEdit, it shows the final VIDEO_TS as 295MB *&* encodes & authors it as such. Now what I've tried to do is rip it in file mode, delete the unwanted, strip subs and audio with IFOEDIT, do a get VTS, and recompile an ISO with IMG Tools then mount it with Daemon. Same problem exists. Weird problem....I am sure you guys have run into it, any suggestions?

thanks....

p.s.- I searched on this in the forum to no avail.

I'm not quite sure what you mean.

If you use doitfast4u with the settings most people will use you'll get subdirs for every selected vts set. In this dir all your demuxed assets are present (video, audio and subs).

bESIDES THAT A VIDEO_TS folder will be created in this folder all unused vts sets and menus etc will be copied. So if you do not check vts2 and 3 they will be copied to the video_ts folder uncompressed. So yes if your vts2 is 1GB then 1GB will be copied. If you also want to compress it with cce then you should check it.
The total bitrate will be calculated based on the assets in the subdirs per vtsset and the contents of the video_ts folder. So if your extras are copied uncompressed there will be less bitrate available for encoding.

I'm not quite sure if I understood your question right, so please be more precise if I didn't.

Yeah my question was, why did it copy vts_02_01.vob (NOT A MENU FILE)? That's what I didn't understand. I have done a few dvd's this way, and haven't had this problem till recently.

It's a setting: create VIDEO_TS using unused vtses (under global options)

When you uncheck a VTS, you are telling the app that you want to keep that VTS AS-IS, un-reauthored (yeah I know that's not exactly a real word, but it does the trick for my statement!). In order to do that, all the files from that VTS have to be copied over exactly, obviously.

And in answer to your next question (I'm practicing being a psychic):

No, you cannot specify VTSes to 'omit' from the final image, as that's a butchering-feature, and I don't advocate that.

Okay eyes (btw, I did donate to this wonderful app!), then is there a way for me to change how ReAuthorist opens it? I am supposing ReAuthorist reads CCEData that DIF4U outputs. Can I change something in there? Is there a way I can erase the vob and put a placeholder vob there? I am desperate!

If I've understood your question correctly you should be able to gain the space you want by deselecting the corresponding pgcs with audio and all in Reauthorist. It will then replace your original files with blanks. After that just click on Auto-size and it should calculate a new bitrate for you. I've inly tried this once and it was in a single-pgc vts, but then it worked and kept the structure of the original...

RA doesn't even bother to open my CCEData.txt file. The author chose to not utilize it in anyway.

Thanks for the donation. I recognize your email from my VIP list, Jason. :D

P.S.: I can't believe you are going to remove the extras from one of the classic movies from my childhood! I would LOVE to watch the extras on that disc! (I think I wasted over $200 on the standalone videogame too, love the spiders and lightcycles levels best!)

hehehe I just wanted the best possible quality on the main movie!

And btw, the problem kinda worked itself out by unchecking those vts's in RA. You guys were right all along. I left VTS 2 CHECKED (so it wouldn't copy the VOB and count it against me) and then UNCHECKED it in RA. SWEEEEEEEEEETTTTTTTTT. I think I figured it out and it was easy all along. Thanks for all your help guys. And again, thanks Eyes Only for the program that does basically all of my backups now....word
