While I'm on the subject, is the DRC function used in BeSweet (provided by WaveBooster, I believe) identical to DeDynamic? My understanding is that DeDynamic is a post-encode/playback filter while DRC is performed during the encoding process. Therefore, does DRC do a better and more thorough job than DeDynamic?

What about playing back a film that has already been DRC'ed and DeDynamic is turned on? Would this cause a problem?

DRC does a much better job, as its using the DRC info hidden in the AC3 track to reduce the dynamic range before the iDCT step in the AC3 decoder.

DeDynamic uses a process called auto-gain, and there is severe pumping to be heard once you try to reduce more than 10 dB with it ( sounds awful ).

My personal recommendation is to use a 'Light DRC' in the decoding process, and then reduce the dynamic range further down with DeDynamic if you watch the movie on a laptop with bad speakers ...
