This question is in reguards to ifo udate. I am curious, why is the big guide so adamant about not touching the VIDEO_TS.IFO file? What sort of effects would happen if I accidently updated it? Also, is it safe to set the "AutoSet Region-Free When Updating" option when using the big 3 (I am assuming yes, but not sure this will really do anything since video_ts.ifo is not touched), and is it safe to mess around with video_ts.ifo just to set it region free?

When you create a scenario in Scenarist, the VMG in the upper left correlates to the VIDEO_TS.xxx files. So every project you compile has a blank VIDEO_TS.xxx structure. To ifoupdate your original VIDEO_TS.IFO with the newly Scenarist-created VIDEO_TS.IFO would be basically overwriting the original data with a blank structure, which would in all probability cause your project to no longer function.

Any function that doesnt mess with cell structure should be fine to perform on the VIDEO_TS.IFO, including region free and remove PUOPs.

Thanks for the response, I guess I have one more question though. Is it save to just update all the .ifo's after you author them, instead of just doing the updated ones? Less bookkeeping that way. I am hoping yes, but the fact that it is messing around with color tables scares me a little :\

You only update the ifo you've newly created ofcourse. You leave the one's you do not reauthor untouched.

The get vts sectors applies to all ifos but that is takes care of automatically when updating.

Let me rephrase: Any function that doesnt mess with cell structure should be fine to perform on the all IFOs, including region free and remove PUOPs.

Your use of the word 'update' is too vague for any other response.
