View Full Version : How to search for an exact phrase, not words within the phrase, in forum

I've been using this forum for a few weeks now and I'm surprised I haven't found a way to do this yet. How do I search for a certain phrase, not word, in the forum? For example, let's say I wanted to find threads that have the phrase The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. How would I enter that in the forum? I've tried using quotes, putting AND in between the words (The AND Good AND the AND Bad ... etc.) but none of these seem to work. Both methods return threads that contain the words within the phrase, but not the entire phrase. Thanks.

Don't be so suprised, it's not your fault ;).
It's just the way vBulletin works, there's no phrase-search.

@Swede
It would be very helpful if there was a way to search with an exact phrase. It would make it much easier for newbies, like me, to find the answers I need.:(
It is very time consuming and sometimes frustrating, to find answers. There are so many threads and posts, it is like finding a needle in a haystack.:mad:
This would definetly reduce the amount of questions asked, thus avoiding the rath of the moderators and senior members. I know it can be aggrevating to them, but the way the search functions, it can't be avoided.:p
Until newbies become more familiar with these programs and their functions, we have no other choice, than to ask when we can't find.
Many guides found here and Doom9 are not very helpful in many aspects. Some are very technical and difficult to comprehend at first.
Some of the authors of the help documents, are not very good at writing them. Many are incomplete, or simply do not exist.
I have found help from other web sites that have explained the procedures better. In the process I am learning by trial and error.
I do appreciate all this forum has to offer, so do not think I am complaining, just stating some facts.:D:
