I downloaded the trial of ReelDVD from sonic (http://support.sonic.com/trial/reelDVDTrial.asp) and when I tried to install it the program installation went correctly, but then it tried to install a device driver and it failed. I wasn't sure what to think of this really, but when I tried to run it it said it was missing the device driver.
It gave me an installshield runtime error. I don't really know what to do. I tried to contact sonic, but they lead me to a "support forum" and it seems to be pretty dead there.
If anyone has the install for the device driver thing could they upload or email it or something? I can provide a place to upload it if you can do this for me.
I'm running Windows XP Pro and I just reformatted a month or so ago, so it isn't too cluttered up.
Thanks a lot,
Carl

from memory the only device driver that ReelDVD would install would be for the dongle, but since its a trial, it shouldnt really matter, but the program possibly wont operate without the driver.
if you install ReelDVD as the LE version, it shouldnt need the Dongle driver.

I only have the trial version though. How/Where can I get the LE version?
And I'm pretty sure the device driver IS for the dongle. I don't understand why it's necessary for the trial either, but it's there, and it won't let me run the program without it installed.

The driver is needed, they use a modified driver, rather than modified program, for the trial. Which is smaller to replace after purchase?
I don't use XP, but I hear people talking about its compatibility settings. Maybe these can help you install and run.

Alright, I tried that, and it almost worked. In the win98/ME setting it was working until it said that it couldn't configure the windows installer for some reason or another.
I think my version of the install is just messed up. I need a new one.

Alright, I managed to get a hold of the LE version, so now I'm in good shape, but what are the limitations set by the LE version vs. the one with the dongle?
Thanks,
Carl

I installed it a few days ago ... there was quite a few windows popping up and alot of writing flying by ... my thoughts were ... hmmm ... I hope these new drivers and settings wont mess up what I do have installed.
Now what to do with it ... hmmm ... I can't even figure out how to import a media file into it ... LOL.
I will stick with DVDLAb ... I like it.
