It's Shaolin Soccer DVD from HK.

There's two version of the movie, 'theatrical' and 'extended'. I suppose they use 'seemless branching' since the main vobs contains the 'theatrical' cut, while the 'extended' part vobs are located in teh 'extras' folded (as observed w/ dvdshrink).

Now, how the dvd works is, you play the theatrical cut, then whenever there's a possibility for the extended scene to pop in, you'll see a logo on the top right, and if you click 'enter' on the remote, then the extended vob will play over. Then once done, it'll come back to the main (theatrical) vobs, at a particular timeframe.

Now i want to rip the extended cut only, and i wonder what method should i follow in order to have the extended vobs play over the main vobs whenever they should.

For example, the movie has the normal ending credits, and an extended ending credits, which if selected, will play instead of the normal ending credits. So it kinda 'overlap' the main vobs. Does that mean, i have to re-encode the whole movie with the extended vobs playing at specific timeframe?

This is weird.

that isnt using seamless branching, it is only using button over video.

real seamless branching would use a multipgc as the movie VTS, one PGC containing everything, the 2nd pgc containing every, minus the cut scenes.

to recreate the disc with only the extended version you can either do a normal backup, but set the button over video buttons to auto action (not sure if that would result in a endless loop, depends on where exactly the movie resumes after the extended scene)

the other way would be to start from scratch, demux the movie by chapter (maybe cell-id, depends on the actual disc), and put them into the timeline in order, with the extended scenes in the spots where they are supposed to go, and author the rest of the disc in the same project. (i think that you are changing the VTS too much to be re-integrated into the old video_ts and be ifo updated).

Looks complicated..

What tools am i needing? Is there a guide on Doom9 about my situation?

The main movie vobs only have one ID.

EDIT:

Here's how the vobs are done.

Main movie has 5 vobs and one ID.
The extended scenes vob is 700mb and has 3 ID (there's 3 extended scenes).

So during the movie playback, at three particular place, you can press 'enter' on the remote and it'll play the corresponding ID of the extended vobs.
