could anyone or does anyone no how to put the keys and the macrovision back into your dvd-r once youve created a copy of your own dvd backup.......when ime at work ime sure my son is lending my films out thanks in advance guys
First of all, this contravenes the forum rules, so consider this your first serious warning!
Backups of DVDs you own the original copies of are only for personal use - they are NOT for subsequent lending to 3rd parties. That is illegal. While you are not specifically asking how to lend your backups out, you are nevertheless asking for advice on how to allow your son to continue with this practice, rather than stopping him from breaking the law. This kind of question puts the forum at risk from the authorities.
Secondly, if you'd used the forum search function, you would easily have unearthed the following thread:

I read the question as how to STOP his son from lending them out.
You can't put CSS onto any form of recordable DVD, but you can put macrovision in. The only problem is, it is totally ineffective. Others can watch or rip them with the same ease you did. If you want to keep your son away from your DVD originals or copies, lock them up. Or get an RFID system at your doors like the stores use.

you must never in your life have lent a film out then i see very good 4 stars thats why i needed to no then it wont happen and beside that you cant get wrong for asking questions we would still be writing on walls if people didnt ask questions
I'm sorry but I see this very simply - you told forum members that you knew that your son was lending out backups. This is illegal. Adding encryption (even if this were possible) to DVD-R backups would not make any difference whatsoever to your son's ability to lend out the backups, or to the illegality of the situation. Or have I missed something?
I DID acknowledge in my previous post that you were not specifically asking how to lend your backups out. If I had thought that you were, then I would have given you a strike, which, you will note, I did not.
I am not being moralistic here, I am simply defending the interests of the forum. If forum members publicly read that you knowingly allow your son to lend out backups of your DVDs to other people, and these forum members then become 'party to the crime', so-to-speak, by colluding, then what does that make the authorities think of our forum? The issue here is that your son should not be lending out copies of your films to other people, and if he does, then you should not be discussing this on the forum. If you think I am a bad person for pointing this simple state of affairs out, then that is also regrettable. My sensitivity on this issue is, perhaps, a little high, but this is only because, in my years on the net, I have been involved with numerous forums and websites, and have seen MANY of these die at the hands of the authorities (e.g. the BSA, for example, to say nothing of the RIAA and the MPAA), and this was invariably due to the webmasters allowing members to freely discuss and share illegal content (which means information as well as files).
We do not allow discussion of conversion of illegally downloaded movies, for example, on this forum, for precisely the same reason.
I just don't want to see Doom9's forum (the best on the net by far, for digital video), go the way of the Dodo. mpucoder, I have the UTMOST respect for you, and I appreciate that you care about the forum too. We are each entitled to our own opinions and I have stated mine as I see it. Let me assure you that I am not a vindictive individual. Again, let me point out that I did not issue a strike, only a warning. I feel I was fair. If I misinterpreted the meaning of tellboyy's oroginal post, then I apologise. I am happy to discuss this either here in public, or by PM, with either of you.
My honest belief is that the best solution for you, tellboyy, is to store your DVDs in a lockable cabinet. Then you can be comfortable in the knowledge that your son is staying on the right side of the law, and is not getting either himself, or you, into trouble. In your defence, I do not actually believe that you are willfully 'up to no good' - I simply feel that your original post might inadvertantly draw potential heat to the forum, which is unfortunate.
Sincerely,
Arky.

I can't argue with any of that, tellboyy, but I'm not allowed to agree either, cos Politics is against forum rules too! lol
Politics aside, though, the days of Big Brother are indeed upon us (sadly), and I don't mean the TV program either. It really won't be long before the government starts pushing for cameras in our homes so they can watch our every move and ensure we don't perform any 'regressive behaviours' not in keeping with the technological age, such as good old fashioned procreation or simply enjoying a cup of tea. Test tubes, nutrition pills, and CCTV everywhere, that's what we have to look forward to. Vive le resistance! ;)
Peace :D
