It's obvious that you get the best picture quality by viewing a progressive video on a progressive scan TV. What happens if we have progressive video on normal TVs?

In other words I have a home-shot video file from my miniDV camcorder. It's interlaced bottom field first and it is going to be encoded to mpeg2 for DVD authoring.
So far I treat all interlaced videos as they are taking care of the field order settings. I was thinking what will happen if I deinterlace the video and render it as progressive. Will it look better on my normal TV or it will look the same as if it was interlaced?
Thanks

It won't look better because it won't be true progressive. If you deinterlace, it will look much worse on your TV.

Keep it interlaced and encode interlaced.
