Hi All,
Decied to have another shot at the PAL R4 version of Bad Company which has been a problem project for quite some time. The problem being that all non forced subtitles in VTS 1 (movie VTS) apart from the first two which are english, only show a black outline of the subtitle which is next to impossible to read. I had Eyes and Gabest look into this problem personally and the changes made unfortunately resulted in no change.
The one thing I noticed was that the physical bitmap files of all the dud subtitle streams that are demuxed via DoItFast4U using vobsub only show the text outline whereas the bitmaps from the working subtitle streams are solid letters. Eye's assured me this was nothing to worry about as the colour codes are set via the SST file.
Anyway, I decided to give it another try now that RA has gone public and there has been some time for programs to mature a little. Unfortunately I still get the exact same problem, and this time it has friends  .
The same subtitle problem exists, and I made the decision I'd use RA to replace thse streams with dummy files as really, being an english only speaking person how often am I going to need to have working Russian, Dutch or Greek subtitles. Still I did make the attempt to import the subtitle streams in manually as this actually fixed the same problem for the "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" I did a while back, and even tried copying the subtitle colors from the original IFO in IFOedit but none of this yeilded any results.
So I went on and authoured as I usually do, and updated the IFO's with IFOupdate 0.72 as per normal. However when it came time to play my project in PowerDVD XP the movie would pause at the point where you select the menu language at the very start. It'd pause once before the language selection menu, and twice after you selected your menu. I burnt a test DVD-RW and tried it im my set top and the same thing happened.
At first I thought this must've been something to do with IFOupdate 0.72 so I tried using IFEedit to get VTS sectors on my second attempt and though I had nailed it as the DVD then played fine in PowerDVD XP, but when I tried to play it on the set top it locked the DVD player up fully. I had to unplug the set top player as it wouldn't respond to any command given from the remote control or front panel. Never seen a DVD do that before  .
Anyway, just wondering if anybody has any insights to these issues? Should just point out that this is seemingly a movie specific problem, as I've never seen it's like in any of the other 20 odd projects I've done using the Big 3 (with exception to the My Big Fat Greek Wedding project which was overcome by manually importing the subtitle streams).
