Hello there,

Just thought I would make myself known as I am new to this forum.

I started looking into DVD ripping a little while ago but thought that it would be too cost prohibitive to pursue. The prices have recently come down so I splashed out on a Pioneer A05 and dove in.

This site has a wealth of info, and has contributed to my education in a huge way. Many thanks to all involved.

So far I have completed just a small number of rips. begining with a simple DVDXcopy backup of Goldmember minus the special features. I then backed up Die Another Day "movie only" using DVD Shrink with level 1 compression and cropping the credits.

I wanted to attempt a CCE "full rip" as I understand that this form of compression has the highest (or close to) quality compression.

I followed Doom9's guide (the Big 3) and attempted to backup Star Wars AOTC. However, at the completion of the process on playback the counter would click along but the display was just blank. It had me stumped... I followed the process again with the same results. So I then tried the same process for The Bourne Identity and it worked fine, perfectly in fact.

I am not too interested in keeping menu's etc so I ripped AOTC movie only using DVDShrink (no compression) and then created an ISO file and mounted this. With the movie only DVD I then followed the guide and compressed using DIF4U, DoCCE, Scenarist etc. perfectly.

Next project is Terminator 2 with seamless branching... should be plenty of fun (any tips??? :) )

So, hello to all, and thanks for the passive help you have already provided me!
