View Full Version : Two Weeks Notice - Branching Problem

First off, let me say that I just started backing up my DVDs 2 weeks ago. I'm still pretty new to this stuff but the BIG 3 have allowed me to create great backups right off the bat. Sincere thanks to all involved in the creation of those programs.

I've finally run into a problem though with Two Weeks Notice. This DVD has a seperate running version of the movie which is identical to the original but with about 12 linking sections that take you to funny outtakes of the current scene then brings you back to the original movie.

It looks like I will need to use DIF4U's extraction by VOBID option on VTS_02 (the one with the links in the movie) and I guess try to recreate everything in Scenarist later on. Has anyone tried this yet for this movie? Have you done one of a similar nature?

Alternately, I was thinking that I could use IFOEdit to strip out all the outtake scenes and put them into one VOB file. (Already did this once in order to watch them all.) Then possible rename this VOB file as VTS_02 so that when you click on the alternate movie version, you will instead get my version of just the outtake scenes.

There certainly sounds like a lot of things could go wrong with that idea so I'm not really sure which will turn out to be the easier method.

Just spitballing here and hoping that someone might have some helpful suggestions.

Thanks for the time.

Hi,

I think that your post might have been better in the (advanced) dvd authoring forum. But what I think you're emntioning is a feature called button over video.

I don't know the title but maybe you van describe what is happening? Do you have to press a button to go to the extra feature (the it's button over video) or does it go automatically to this feature (then it's something that I think has officially no name yet, but I would call it autocell activation)?

I've written a guide on button over video myself, which I can provide you and seyton has written a guide too. You can find this on on www.doom9.org ofourse.

I want/can help you but I need more info. The ifo files (main movie, video_ts, ifo of extras) would surely help in analyzing the problem.

And I must warn you this is probably not going to be very easy.

Thanks for the response Influenza. It is indeed "button over video" like you mentioned. VTS_2 uses all the same main movie VOB-IDs with the exception of the 12 or so VOD-IDs (a few second long) that have hearts in the frame. You click the heart and are taken to the blooper and then takes you back automatically to the same spot on the movie after it's done.

I'm at work right now but I'll throw up the DVD structure when I get home.

I'll take a look through the Doom9 site and look for "button over video" guides. I just didn't know what to search for before now.

I appreciate the help.

i can send you my own guide too if you want. It's kind of an addition to the one on doom9, dealing with finding button commands.

Just let me know or send a pm.

Influenza:
Could you send me a copy of the guide you wrote? I did this title by using the non button over video in both pcg's (movie and button over movie). Seytons guide was hard for me to follow. Thanks
