View Full Version : I had NEVER backup any DVD with REAUTHORIST&IFOUPDATE successfully!
I follow the tour to backup my dvd, but I never get it!
it's ok with DOITFAST4U and REAUTHORIST and scenarist, but when I run IFOUPDATE, this tools seems doesn't like me, never do anything for me excepte error.
I do backup like this step:
1/insert the original dvd into my PIONEER 116, and then run DOITFAST4U, and ...... have a cup of tea.....
2/use reauthorist export file to scenarist.
3/open scenarist and import that files
4/layout
5/(DAMN!)run ifoupdate...
it stick to step 5, never success....

Maybe some more details on what happens with IFOUpdate would help us to help you...

Be sure you select the right ifo files in ifoupdate. You do not edit the VIDEO_TS.IFO file in the ifoupdate step, only the VTS_XX_0.IFO files. For every VTS click UPDATE IFO. Don't worry about correcting the VTS sectors in this step; it never seems to work with ifoupdate. What you'll need to do next is, if you haven't already, move all the .VOB files located in the \%DIRNAME%\0\VIDEO_TS folder to \VIDEO_TS . Then copy everything located in the \%DIRNAME%\VIDEO_TS to \VIDEO_TS as well (REMEMBER, AFTER YOU'VE UPDATED THE IFO FILES WITH IFOUPDATE). Next, run ifoedit and load any VTS_XX_0.IFO file in the \VIDEO_TS and click GET VTS SECTORS. It automatically updates and saves each ifo file, so there's no need to click save. All you need to do now is create the image and you're done.

Did I miss something or do you really import everything without reencoding in Scenarist?
Regarding IfoUpdate some details really would be nice 'bout what you're exactly doing ;)
BTW: have you already read that guide (http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/mpg/ra-guide.htm)? ;)

Also, make sure you are using the right update mode in IFOUpdate. For the most part you should use Standard mode. I have made this mistake in the past. :D
Hope that helped

1) you HAVE HAVE to mount from a iso image (using daemon-tools or the like) before ripping w/ DIF
2) I don't see your step where you actually re-encode the files....

I caught the same thing D3s7 saw... you would have a much higher success ratio if you used the isomount method specifically explained in both doom9's guide, trilight's guide, and my help file. That's why we bothered to spell it out for you.
Chances are the .ifos and .vobs copied to your hdd at the end of the DIF4U are full of encryption, which is killing the ifoupdate process.
