View Full Version : Freezing Issue

Hello,
I am having a problem with AVI2VCD conversion. After installing the programs and running it using the tutorial offered by the website, the program ran fine. I then decided to turn my avi file into a svcd and that worked fine also. Then the problem started. When i tried to convert the same avi to vcd again the program froze. Now, i can no longer convert to vcd or svcd. The TMPGEnc program encodes the avi fine but once that is finished it freezes at some point. Can anyone explain wh itis doing this. I have more than enough hard drive space, about 10 gigs free so that shouldnt be it.
Thanks

I didnt even notice that little guy. I cannot post my log file because the program freezes before it is done converting. The only thing that I can do is close the program.

What happens if you load the avi directly into TMPGEnc and convert that to SVCD?
If that also fails, the problem is not avi2vcd but is probably TMPGEnc. Could you open one of those failing avi's in vdub, to see what the used codec is.

I have version 2.5 Plus. I get freezes too.. It encodes the logo and sometimes the Hand for the end of the movie then freezes.... Sometimes freezes just after encoding the Dvd2svcd logo.
I have to Ctrl + Alt Delete and actually close TMPGEnc..
The Dvd3Svcd Continues.. I see TMPGEnc come up and continue..
If I have 2pass variable bitrate (VBR) checked I have no further problems for that sesion..
But If I have the Rate Control Mode at Constant Quality (CQ) I get the freeze up Usally 3-4 X a session..
And some times It is fine..
It have been driveing me nuts..
I have a HP 514 N Win xp Home. 2.2 GHz, 256 Ram
I thought is was a driver problem w/the HP 514N cause I had XP programs like PowerVcr crashing in XP mode.. When I chamge it to WIndows compat. mode 98 it ran ok..
I dumped the whole system and installed my copy of XP . For the first 3 rips I was ok. But the problem is back...
Some DVD rip and Encode fine, I get No freezing.. But others Ick!
