View Full Version : Every DVD reads error....

I used to be able to rip DVD's without no problems. But now every time I attempt to rip a dvd I get error messages half way through. It tries to connect and continue to rip, but it is unable to read the disk. I just tried the Recruit, and got an error message...one minor scratch, but otherwise it is clean.
Tried Led Zeppelin's new dvd, this is scratch free, still get an error. and unable to read.
Could this be a software problem? Should I try something else besides DVD decrypter? I tried Smart Ripper, but got a no ASPI? error message. And I do not know German. It was all in German.
Just stumped here fellas. Oh yeah, I uninstalled DVDecrypter and reinstalled it. Still get the error messages. (The errors occur after about 50% of the dvd is decrypted.)

Whats the error? (in full please).
Are these discs original pressed ones or backups?

well for some reason the problem is solved. How? I have no clue. Buut I uninstalled the decrypter again, and then came back here and redownloaded it. Now it works again, and I have burned a few DVD's. Must have been something wrong in the files of the old install.
But it was the newer version, so I have no clue what happened, Oh well it working again. Sorry to bother you guys.

I am having the same problem described above. I am at work now so I will have to wait until I get home to use my computer. About half way through decrypting the files (on any dvd i've tried lately mind you) it will stop and tell me that my device is not ready. Not only am I having this problem but about half of the time when I stick a dvd in my drive will blink like normal as it reads it and after about a minute the light will come on and stay on. Can't open it in any software player. Can't even view the files on the dvd. Can't eject unless I reboot or stick a paper clip in the emergency eject hole. Like I said it only occurs about half of the time, the other half it works great. Any suggestions as to what I should do?

I considered that but then I started to think about it. Why would it only be occuring on newer DVDs? I just can't seem 2 make sense of it.

dumb_byte: maybe the newer DVDs are 2 layer discs (9GB), and the older ones 1 layer discs (5GB)?
I had the same problem with my Samsung SM-332B combo drive (reads DVDs, burns CDs). In addition, the burnt CD-Rs weren't readable at all. AEG (ausbauen, einpacken, Garantiefall (remove from computer, pack it, for warranty)): Got a replacement (same model, but now not in black but in a color that fits my case), and all problems are gone.
Don't know, maybe there's just been some dirt on the laser.

I am going to check on the warantee on it though. If it is still covered I will straight up send it back to them and get a new one just to see.
