Hello there.

I was just wondering after reading the nice guide about dvd shrink program (which really seems easy and working task).

Lets say I have a normal dvd- movie and my upcoming burner is dvd+ standard. Everything should work when I shrink the movie to 4.7g size burn it to dvd+r disc and stick it to dvd player which supports dvd+ discs?

Or is there somekinda fuss with the standards so that originelly dvd- movies wont work on dvd+ discs, there shouldnt be because its just data but gotta confirm before I buy my burner :)

Standard original DVD media is not DVD- or DVD+, it is pressed, completely different production technique than burning. As far as compatibility, you could do a search for your standalone player at http://www.dvdrhelp.com or search the forum here at Doom9

If your standalone supports dvd+ disc format, as Kpex said, there is no problem at all playing it.

A movie is a movie and it can be stored in a dvd-r, dvd+r, dvd-ram or a dvd. Whether your standalone can playback it, is a matter of supporting the media format.

I actually said the same thing as Kpex, twice. I hope I make sense.
