Hi there,
I have to exchange a english ac3 file from a HDTV tape recorded in NTSC with german AC3 audio.
Well the NTSC audio runs aprox.97 min and the german aprox.94min. After using ac3mashine to convert the german ac3 from 25 frames to 24frames it has still the same length of 94min but the file is smaller (testet with WMP as he shows the playing timelength).
Does anyone have an Idea how to stretch the file around 4%longer so the playtime would be also 97 min.?
I got the german ac3 file from PAL DVD.
Thanks allot.

(assuming you are making a DVD and sampling rate and frame rate is in conformity with DVD specifications):
I do not know how to time stretch an ac3 file directly but if you are willing to convert to wav then you can use a WAV editor such as Cool Edit 2000. You can time stretch only or stretch with pitch correction, etc. Quite easy and then just convert back to ac3.
I would like to hear how other people would do it.

For AC3 PAL to AC3 NTSC:
1/ I use Beseweet to convet AC3 in 6 waves and change the sample rate using the preset value (custom value is buggy)
2/ I reencode the 6 waves to AC3 using Soft Encode

No cracking, no problem with low volume.
