anyway, i'll give you a short head start. more can be found in and around doom9.org, avisynth.org, etc!

avisynth: scirpt based frameserver. seems complicated at first but once you've gotten into it which will take a few hours but not too many, you'll be amazed at what you can do!

pulldown: a little program to do the 3:2 pulldown for you, only necessary for NTSC material

bbmpeg: general mpeg utility, can encode mux etc, but is mainly used for muxing (e.g in dvd2svcd)
