dvd decrypter error

I used to rip dvd's fine on my computer. A few weeks ago dvd decrypter started giving am error "unable to parse udf file system". I tried swapping out the cable and then reinstalled the OS. This did not work. I boutht a new DVD-ROM and still get the same error message. I am using windows 2000 SP3. Any ideas on what this could be. Hopefully my ide controller on my mobo is not going bad.

Note that it would still play movies using WINDVD but will not rip them.

I tried smart ripper and it worked, but I prefer DVD Decrypter due to its built in chapter extracter.

Hi, I just want to write that I got the same problem like you last days, and I found a way to solve it!

I didnt know why I got this message...

I tryed to install the newst ASPI version... No luck !!!

Then I tryed Force ASPI... Also no luck !!!

Then I rememberd that the only stuff Ive installed the last days was Blindwrite-Suite...

So I uninstalled it.. But again, no luck !!!

After some confusion about it, I deleted all registry entrys of blindwrite, and also some stuff in the Windows\System\IOSUBSYS folder, that was left from blindwrite-suite !!!

And viola... Now all works perfectly again !!!

Im still not sure what caused this problem... Suggestions ???

Ive had several reports of similar failures, all of which seem to be because of the PCATIP.VXD file that BlindWrite installs.
Once that has been deleted and the machine rebooted, the problems go away. I have been in contact with the author of the driver / file but havent heard anything back from him as of yet.

snowman386, what have you changed / install since it broke?! Just step back and find out what caused it. These things dont normally just stop working for no reason.

Thanks for the tip, but I have recently done a clean install with windows XP pro and it still does not work. It must just be a hardware conflict. I have tried different cables and drives. the drives work on other systems with dvd decrypter, but not on my main system. However, the drive works with other programs on my main system. It is a shame because I love dvd decrypter.

What error are you getting before the udf parsing failed one?
Enable I/O debug mode, restart the program and then send me the log.

SENSE 11 00 means 'Unrecovered Read Error'

I dont know why, but your drive just isnt reading that disc.

Have you tried changing the I/O transfer length to 32k in the settings?
How about switching the I/O Interface to ASPI instead of SPTI?

Ahh...that drive looks like a variation of the BenQ drive and the BenQ drive is known to have problems for no apparent reason. I just gave up trying in the end!

NOTE: Does anyone else have one of these drives that DOES work?!

After upgrading to nvidia's new nforce drivers, with their IDE driver, the problem has been fixed. It must have been a problem with the microsoft IDE drivers.

I hope you've tried new firmware too?

The BENQ firmware on the drive I got for testing was buggy as hell!
I updated to the latest one and it seems to have fixed all the problems I was having.... or rather, other people were having.

Anyway, glad its now working ok for you.

I had the same error. I went to the device manager, chose the device, uninstalled it, restarted and it automatically added the device and now it works. To those who don't want to go into the registry, this could be an easy solution.

I did the thing I mentioned above and it was working fine. Now I can see the DVD in the drive letter; however, when I try DVDDecryptor or DVDShrink, it gives the same error again! My computers don't have PCATIP.VXD file. I might try the nVidea driver as mentioned above, but could someone help me? The problem seems to be some conflict and the drive seems to be ok for now. The attached (non-external) drives have started giving the trouble now. I cannot have no drive working...
Please help.
If I find the solution, I shall post it here as I did before.
