Hi, I have a director's commentary track that is 192kbps which I want to transcode to a lower bitrate for a DVD. I tried making a DVD already with 128kbps and got playback problems. Does anyone know if there is like a "cutoff point" for DVD bitrates - i.e., 2 channel audio must be between x and y bps? The folks in the authoring forum thought that going below 192kbps for stereo might not be allowed in the DVD format.

Have you considered going to mono? Being a commentary track it doesn't really require stereo seperation, and at mono you should be able to take the bitrate down to 96kbps without breaking the standard specs.

Not a bad idea... Do you know if I have to make any changes to the original ifo file (besides running IfoUpdate) for that to work?

Sorry I can't really help you there... I normally just reauthor in Scenarist so I've not really looked into ifo editing.
