Hi, I am converting avi files to mpeg2 for burning onto a dvd. The converter asks for a specific bit rate. Which is the best / should i enter?
Also please tell me if you know where i can get other avi to mpeg2 converters!
Cheers

For a dvd and duration aprox 120min a 3000kbs should be enough for filling up the whole capacity. This ofcourse has everything to do with the complexity of the movie and its compressability. A movie like fast and furious is much more space demanding than Pinochio :)

If your encoder supports vbr go for 200min, average 3000 and max 9000.

You've posted the same question in two threads, posting to two forums (General discussion and Other MPEG1/2 encoder)
Please, read the rules again and in the future, use the search function and do not crosspost.

this is the third one i have come across tonight, and looking for your 5 posts you have made on these forums, it seems that only this one is going to be left.

this thread has the best (only) answer, so this thread can stay alive for now, and whether it will be moved to a different forum will depend on the decision of one of the moderators for this particular forum.

He has not specified the encoder being used so I guess this is as good a place as any for now.
