I have Ripped and converted several DVD to SVCD using DVD2SVCD and the TMPGE encoder. And only the first two work on that DVD player (JVC XV-S502) It says non playable disk for the others...

I have a Philips Q35 and it plays the disks that the JVC did not, but I have to turn PBC off on the Philips.

I do not remember changing any settings in DVD2SVCD so I could not understand why they did not work in the DVD player. They worked fine on the pc..

I see in DVD2SVCD a setting under CD image tab DVD Chapters PBC Type.. I am trying to rip/encode useing No PCB.. Has anyone expirenced this before and do you think it will make the SVCD's play on the JVC ?

I have also looked for a way to turn the PBC feature/setting off on the JVC with no luck there. The JVC web site is of no help or owners manual.. And no phone number to call either..

I have been working on this problem for 3 weeks ..looking throught the forum and found bits and pieces to help.. So if anyone has any Ideas please let me know..

Thank you

Check out your player at http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdplayers.php?DVDnameid=1164&Search=Search&#comments to see what the dvd player database has to say.

If you see that some people have success with a feature or media, and others do not, it may be due to a feature change by the manufacturer without a change in model number ... such as a firmware update.

All I did was Download Deamon Tools and Mounted the .bin file and then it burn fine. The Picky JVC had no problem reading it.

Becky,

I too have the JVC XV-S502 and am having great trouble with backing up DVDs. I have tried Maxell and Sony DVD-R, but am now about to give up on it.. These discs will play on other players - can you help?
