Pisses me off when I download an mpeg off Kazaa and I can't even play the damn thing cause it wants you to buy a license or some shit.

Read the rules ! (http://forum.doom9.org/forum-rules.htm)
6) No warez, cracks, serials or illegally obtained movies! Links to content of a questionable nature, asking or offering in any way or form is not tolerated
2) Respect the netiquette: Lurk and get to know the forum before you post.
4) Be nice to each other and respect the moderator. Profanity and insults will not be tolerated. If you have a problem with another member turn to the respective moderator and if the moderator can't help you send a private message to Doom9.
Should be enough to read some time IMO

 Cracking encrypted MPEGs?
I don't know "encrypted MPEG" - except for CSS encryption on DVDs, or Digital Rights Management in MPEG4IP files at least, or ASF/WMV files, but not in e.g. MPEG1 Program Streams: they don't even support DRM, AFAIK.
Could it be possible that someone faked a movie, and your player desperately tries to play any random nonsense data? Or just replaced the filename extension of a protected ASF by ".mpg"? Well - then I hope you had to pay much money for the time downloading this file...
