Newbie with DVDMaestro...
Just finishing the chapter 7 of the User's Guide (working with DVD
Menus)...
I've made a Menu with a background picture and a subpicture ( 4 buttons )... and no movies for the moment !
When playing the Dvd, it's always the 1st button highlight that is selected by default in the Menu !
Is there a way to select a specific button highlight ( or no selection at all ! ) when the menu is playing !

When u r selecting the link to a button, in your case the link to First Play item u have a choice to link to the menu only or to a mnu and a button, provided u have created one to link to.
Be advised though that some players, Philips 711 is one of them, would stop playback if you link to a menu only and not to a menu button.

Hi,
Sorry for my double post... I put it twice because I didn't see the first post in the DVD authoring group !
Yes, I know that in the Connections - First Play window I have the choice between :
Menu1 (NoButton) - Menu1:Button1 - Menu1:Button2 - etc...
But there is no difference between "Menu1 (NoButton)" and "Menu1:Button1" : it's always the 1st button highlight that is selected in the Menu ! (but it's working fine when I select Menu1:Button2, 3, etc...)

I'll pass on this and wait for another post. I never thought that it would select the 1st button in this case. Have u built the title set and checked it in a player? Maybe the simulation is not accurate enough.

Yes... perhaps the simulation is not accurate !
I have no DVD-RW for the moment... so I can only check the result on the computer with POWERDVD !
I'll burn an example on DVD media in a few days
I'll let you know the result !
Anyway... thanks for your help !

NoButton will make no change to SPRM 8, whereas the other form will set the value. However, there is always a highlighted button. The net result is NoButton will highlight the same button as the last displayed menu.
I suspect the Philips player mentioned has a bug, as the spec states the default value (set when the player is turned on, or a new disk inserted) for SPRM 8 is button 1.
