Tricky one this....
I have some homemade backup DVD's which were taken from some of my laserdisc collection. I have now sold my laserdisc collection. They were widescreen (2:35) but have been encoded as 4:3. I would like to re-encode them back to 16:9 whilst maintaining the apect ratio. I can only find help in the forums on cropping & resizing 16:9 footage to 4:3 but not back again.
Am I correct in saying that I need to crop most of the black bands but still should leave a little bit because 2:35 is usually slightly letterboxed anyway even on a widescreen TV. Basically how much should I crop from the 4:3 in order to display it on a widescreen tv as 2:35 (small black bars on top and bottom).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards.
