Could someone give me a general idea how to put jpeg photos to a cd to view on a DvD player? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Dave.

Dave,
Putting photos on VCD or SVCD is a fun project that I'm also playing around with. It can be done the easy way or the hard (manual) way.
The easy way is downloading trial versions of Ulead DVD Pictureshow, Photo2VCD and PictureToTV and deciding which one you like the best.
The more difficult way is doing it using VCDEasy (it is shareware, not freeware anymore), which is not an automatic process, like in the other software I mentioned.
If you have WinOnCD, it can also create Photo VCD/SVCDs and I'm sure there are other programs as well. But these are the most widely used.
DVDRhelp has good guides that will help you with everything you need to know: http://www.dvdrhelp.com/author
Scroll down to "How to make a VCD/SVCD Photo-Album/Slide-Show".
Good luck!

I recommend Ulead DVD Pictureshow as Swan mentioned.

You don’t need to burn a specially formatted disc but just a regular data DVD full of digital photos if you own a DVD player with built-in slide-show features for viewing JPEG images.
If your DVD player doesn’t have such features, creating DVD photo slide shows via apps will be help and it is a much more stunning and professional way for storage and share.
I recommend Wondershare Movie Story (http://www.photo-to-dvd.com/movie-story.html#106)which is a professional software that can create DVD photo slideshows with photos, video clips and music and publish MPEG/AVI/WMV/MP4/3GP for Youtube or burn CD/DVDs. What it attract me is its plenty 2D/3D transitions and Ken-Burns effects.
CD or DVD created by Movie Story can actually play in the DVD player, you can enjoy your own movie on TV.
Find more from its official website:

Hope it helps.

I've used MS Photo Story 3 and DVD Styler in the past

http://www.dvdstyler.de/
Now I use AviSynth for the generation of the movie; which is what you need to do. DVD's play movies so you need to make a movie that has all your jpgs in it. I might go for MuxMan for the dvd authoring... don't know

The link CruNcher gave is a great option btw
