freeware with two 5 second nag screens (never expires...free to use as long as you wish)

Splits entire dvd (menues and extras) to two dvds
here's my mirror [482KB] to download and and also all CGP (Change Graphic Pictures) for dvdfab dvdfabCGP.zip [2.72MB]http://www.mrbass.org/dvdtoolbox/
@mpucoder and/or mods...can DVDFAB be discussed in this forum rather than IFO-Edit since not many venture over there? InterVideo DVD Copy and DVDXCopy are discussed in this forum "One click DVD Backup solutions" and they are the one in the same thing strip streams and split to two DVDs. DVDToolbox can only split main movie only and not full menues and extras as DVDFab can do now.
Note: it still doesn't do episodic dvds yet but that's being worked on.'
DVDToolbox 0.14.0 is the last release as DVDFab is (dvdtoolbox + splitting entire dvd)

I just tried this version (full DVD backup) and it didn't work. Got an IFO error message. I'm going back to Beta 3.:(

yep "Can't Copy IFO file from source". Oops I better test it out fully next time before opening my mouth. Once Joerg wakes up I'm sure he'll release a new version to address this. I was doing it from an .iso mounted with daemon-tools.

Seems like a great alliterative to DvdXcopy. Has been a long time for me since I used DXC, and it's going to stay that way. Right now I'm using trancodeing software. For people who want true 1:1 audio/video quality backups, on two disks, I see Fab as a better choice.
Good luck mrbass, you seem to stand for the right things.

For splitting discs, why not just use IfoEdit 0.95, or am I missing something?

yes your are....How many clicks is IfoEdit? DVDFab is just a couple
1. rip dvd either in .iso and mount with daemon tools or rip all files
2. Click 'copy complete dvd'
3. choose source and destination
4. click 'continue'.
5. burn video files
Is IfoEdit that easy? Point me to a guide that's as simple as that.

That sounds pretty simple all right. Can you choose your own split point? Can you strip streams, VOB ID's, etc.? If it is that powerful, then I will give it a try.
My biggest problem is that I need to do episodic DVD's. Any idea when DVDFab might support them?

You can choose the split point and strip streams only when doing main movie only not when doing complete dvd (menus and extras). Either on 1 dvd or splitting it to two dvd-rs. You can also select your default streams.
No idea when it'll support episodics DVDs. I've thought about it for about 30 seconds and kinda understand how difficult it is. Best for that is say you have Band of Brothers (4 episodes per dvd) if you want 100% video just use DVDShrink in Re-Author and ep 1 and 2 on dvd#1 and label it so. And repeart for ep 3 and 4 for dvd#2.Only thing dvdfab would give you is those cool looking menus when/if it supports episodic dvds someday.

For episodic DVDs, I have been using IC7 at 100% quality splitting the 4 episodes over 2 DVDs. I backed up many seasons of Star Trek The Next Generation this way. IC7 would show 5 titles. 4 of these are the movie and the 5th is a 10KB file.
For the first DVD, I just select the first two episodes and the 10KB title. I then let it run with everything at 100%. I do the same for the second disc except I select the other two titles and the 10KB title.
When it is done I have 2 DVDs complete with menus, all audio tracks, subtitles, etc. I then use MenuEdit to delete the buttons for the episodes that are not on that disc. It has worked flawlessly on over 50 DVDs so far.

Thanks, mgd72,
but I just accomplished pretty much the same thing by using DVDShrink. I made 2 discs, each with 2 episodes at 100%, just like you, but I just reduced the unwanted episodes to "still pictures". It isn't quite as clean as with IC, but it results in the exact same picture quality (no compression) and does it a hell of a lot faster. :)

Joerg has updated his homepage clarifying the freeware license as some claim it's shareware. Remember no timeout bombs like vcdeasy. I know delphi.stuff released a two version older one without a timebomb..anyways. You can find this one the bottom of the first page at http://www.dvdfab.com
"DVDFab is freeware and you can use and share it as you want.
If you like DVDFab and you use it often, please do register DVDFab.
By registration the nag screens will be removed."

Anyone who has tried doing lots of episode based titles into two discs with fully working menus will tell you the same story, NOT straightforward (well some are)
There are so many ways in which they can be authored, (ie multiple PGC's in one titleset, multiple title sets etc) add to this the way some menu's work with their title/audio/sub links and you are in for some work with a splitting tool (I still use Ifoedit) and that great app Menu Edit.
Good luck to mrbass to get this process fully automated. If anyone can then he can!
