Hi there, can anyone help?

Ive been burning vcd and svcd for years now and am now trying dvd-r - I tell you this so you know my experience is not as a total newbie

Im using a pioneer 105

I have this problem -when playing back the movie on either a stand alone or on the PC, the picture sticks when there is not much light on the picture - IE, when there is a black screen with just white titles the picture will stick on the screen and will only move on when a bright scene is detected

I encode using TMPGenc pro 2.512.52.161 mainly from AVI divx files - i use a general bitraye f around 4000 so i can get 2 movies on a disc and a resolution of 720X576, mpeg audio at 356, use 'normal' in the motion precision and keep aspect ratio on the video arrange method.

Note - even at full dvd rate of about 7000 bits i get the same problem

the resultant mpeg file works fine - shows on the pc with no problem at all.

I then author using tmpgenc dvd author, I add the mpeg file and make no changes, leaving it at 'stereo' for the audio and let it do its biz

Now when the video_ts and audio_ts files come out this problem exists of 'sticking' - the audio just plays on no problem.

I burn using recordmaxnow or nero at 1 or 2 speed and have used bulkpaq gen 4 red top and datasafe classic yellow top - this makes no difference at all

Phew! - there, thats it ;-) - can anyone help please ;-)

Soulman, welcome to the forum. On behalf of the moderator team I am welcoming u to our board.

Since the resulting mpeg file is playing just fine on the pc it safe to assume that the muxing wasn't succesful. I suggest to try and author with ifoedit to determine if it is actually a mux problem caused by dvd author or a anomally in the mpeg file itself.

PS. Read the forum rules (http://forum.doom9.org/forum-rules.htm). Your post has violated r9

hmmmm, yes i thought that - the mpeg file plays fine but not the completed disc, so that assures me its not my player

however, ive also tried authoring using another program on the same mpg file (ulead dvd moviefactory2) - still the same problem exists

could it be one of my xp components perhaps that is used by all authoring programs?

sorry for breaking the rule ;-) (cheeky grin)

im going to try using a different encoder - cce and see if that returns different results

I see that u haven't visit the doom9 site (www.doom9.org).

U ll find ifoedit in the download section and a full authoring guide in the guides one.

PS. U can change the title by editing your first post.
That is to remove the cheeky grin :)
