Where can I find the latest (or the last stable) versions of lame?
I use lame as an ACM codec and lame with audiograber.

Oh, and is there any Lame ACM DEcoder?

Lame 3.93.1 can be downloaded here (http://www.doom9.org/software.htm#audio)

You can always check what is the latest version here (http://www.mp3dev.org)

Regarding the decoder, I believe it does exist, I am not sure where it can be downloaded. Hope this helps.

Ok, thanks... ;)
I'm asking about the versions of lame because I've read on many topics that the last version isn't always the best, coz of bugs etc...

I hope that there's a good/stable/bugless version of lame ACM that's a decoder too.

P.S. I hope that the title of th topic isn't too confusing/inacurate. :)

Sorry for the confusion but.....do you want to decode your mp3's to play back? or decode as in decode to .wav ?

lame 3.93.1 is a the last stable build with ACM encoding (always came out with a (lame_ACM.inf or something like that to install this feature which is not installed automatically). If you go to the www.hydrogenaudio.org audio forum, in the lame section they will say that lame 3.90.2 or 3.92 are better because are more tested, but presonally i think last one is very good. In the documentation that comes with the build they claim that new algorithm is suppose to be the same quality as the old one. For me it seems like it's true, and it's twice as fast. But other people prefers to stick to old algorithm.

jkwarras.... ok thaks

KpeX... there is no problem when the file is .mp3. In this case each program will use it's own mp3 decoder to play the file. But if the file is .avi or .wav and the sound is encoded with an ACM encoder, then many programs will try to use the ACM for decoding/playback (eg winamp, virtual dub, windows sound recording...). So you'll get a "no ACM decoder found" message.

In this case we must have installed a second mp3 ACM (eg radium) to handle the decoding, but that's somrthing I really don't like coz sometimes the programs are 'confused' somehow and they use radium instaid of lame to encode even if you select 'lame' in the options...
