I'm sorry if this is the wrong forum (we need a DVD menu forum)
Anyway, I'm authoring this anime DVD, and in it one of the primary plot elements is a card the killer leaves behind after he strikes.
So I want the menu to be a card roating on the right side of the menu, and every time the front of the card comes up, there will be video clips from the scene playing in it. I can add the video just fine, but my problem lies in the card spinning trick.
I got 2 patterns, 1 for the back of the card, and 1 for the front. How can I get it to look like a flawlessly turning card? I tried in Adobe Premiere by distorting the card, but it doesn't work out well.
WHat would be the best way to do this (what software and how).
I really really need help with this effect and you'd be helping alot like you wouldn't believe. So please help me solve this issue! The menu will look stunning with this effect and the others I gathered.
EDIT:
Card pattern is here if someone wants to generously work it out for me in premiere and send me the project so I can see how it's done.

Just an opinion:
How about using a 3D tool with your card as texture and rendering an AVI ?

Got no idea what my card is, and after that I wouldn't know what to do. :(
(BTW, love your avatar. love hina rocks)

Make a 2D rotating polygon in a 3D tool and apply your JPGs to both faces of the polygon. Then render an AVI.

Any reccomendations of a 3D tool? I can't think of one, I've had no experience with them before.
A super-cheap way to do it is to just compress both images. Like so:
http://nabeshin.ddo.jp/clow-ani.gif - Example made in Jasc Animation Shop. This doesn't look very convincing though, so I'd follow Bilu's advice :).
PS: Everybody loves Bilu's avatar, nobody loves mine :scared: :(.

I probably will just do that kind of card spinning effect, but that one doesn't look 1/4 as good as it would it if would be, say, spinning at an angle. Of course that makes it much harder with perspectives and all, but I'm hoping some software out there can handle it. ><
(p.s. If I recognized who was in your avatar I might love it.)

The best of it is that my wife chose my avatar, I never watched this anime before...
And I do like your avatar, where did you get it?

Well actually I was also hoping AS would provide *some* perspective in its spin effect, but there are no options for it. Like I said, it's just a *very* cheap solution. I might look into Cool 3D later.

Well, your wife made the right choice then :). I've seen people mention your avatar in threads pretty often now, and I like it too :). *psst* I like su-chan more though, she's my favorite from LH :D. I made mine from a screenshot of Puni Puni Poemi, it's mini-nabeshin :D.

I THOUGHT it was him! (Nabeshin from Excel Saga)
Anyway, if you can find a way to make it look more like it's rotating, i'd appreciate it.

Adobe After Effects can do this really easily. I think you can get a time-limited trial version from Adobe's web site (im not sure though).

Can you tell me where I can enable this effect?

Ok, actually I think I found it, where I put that card image there, go to effect then 3D transform or something like that, then I can see the card rotating when I move the cursor around a cicle, but it doesn't make the card spin, it just leaves it at the point that I left it.
How can I get it so it has the card start with one angle, then end with another?

dvd_master: if you are using after effects, look in the help file for where it explains how to set keyframes. Set one keyframe at the start of the clip, then move to the end, make it spin around a few times, and set another keyframe.

Also u could use unlead cool3d to make the affect and export to avi. After that just encode to m2v. I use it all the time for my intro videos and change disk logos on Vcds although i haven't did a Vcd in ages, since getting my dvd burner.
