Gotta say I'm lovin using the big 3. I think my last project, Changing Lanes is probably the best example I've come across yet of the quality factor these tools bring to 1:1 DVD-9 to DVD-5 conversions. The original in this case was 7.66GB which is a fairly large DVD, yet I was able to encode the movie at 3500kbps and all the extras at 2500kbps resulting in a truly flawless conversion. Thanks to all involved :D

Happy Camper here also. Since I started to understand the field order stuff better, the quality of my backups has improved a lot. The results are simply amazing. All thanks to the great tools and help provided :D

this stuff is truely breathtaking,
the whole process is fantastic, the transporter was the best dvd-9 -> dvd-5 I ever seen!.
At the minite it looks like you guys are on a bit of a summer vacation, but when you get beack to work maybe you's could look at making this into a dvd2svcd style operation so there is no neeed for an intervention between tasks.
Apart from that, thanks, you's make it worth getting a dvd burner!

It's a single layer dvd :D
At least the one I have is, as far as I know it is the standard US release, it could be you have another version? Whatever :)

The Pal version of the transporter is a dvd9, under my computer it says the disc is 6 odd GB, but if you explore the disc and select all on the files its only 4.9GB

The *PAL* version - doh! I hadn't even thought of other countries having differing sizes, what a noob I am!
So is that common? For the PAL version to be larger? Just curious...
Or maybe it has more extras? Hmmm...

there was [not any] extras and it was a short film. so CCE had a nice high bitrate. the orignal bitrate of the film was like 7000!!

As we have figured out by now, those who frequent this forum are in agreement with you. Ironically, we're still the minority. Glad you're joining the movement!

I have been trying all the different methods that I can find and nothing comes close to the quality of the big three. Truely amazing. The tools keep getting better and better!

i retract my previos stament about being it being all powerful and great, decided to sit back and watch my backup version of lotrtt well it looks unbelievable at first then 10mins into the film it begins to skip little bits of the film(not chapters),i was really p'"££$d so i got out another copy one i did with dvd2vcd played perfect all way through it definitley wasnt the media cos i burnt it again same! although im not going to give up yet,i had a real problem with another backup i did couldnt even author it properly, never mind back to the drawing board it must be something ive done!

Ahh HAAA! Finally some success! After trying about 20 times, I finally got a good backup of Raiders Of The Lost Ark (and The Shining, with no trouble at all...) Scenarist gave me troubles galore on importing and exporting every time. Talk about frustrating.
Like the rest of the folks working with 'The Big Three', I'm really striving for a _quality_ backup. The 'One Click' backup solutions really don't cut it, IMHO.
Looks like we're on the right track.
Thanks guys, for all the hard work on this stuff. Much respect goes out to you.
