Is there a way to join multiple vob files in DVDLab? I am trying to take the multiple 1Gig VOB files and import the chapter points. If I join the vob files together in the "Connections" section, there is a stutter and the video pixilates for a second at the connection (at least on the computer).

a. Import Video / Audio
b. select First VOB File (*1.vob)
c. (3) First Join the Vobs then use it directly without Demultiplexing
Same as above but the *1.vob, *2.vob etc will be first joined into one file...

There is no way to join multiple VOB files in DVDLab.

????

Since Version 1.15 BETA (June 7th 2003):
- Joining VOB files option

And I have tested it!

each movie that you create on the dvdlab workspace becomes each PGC, which is basically joining them together.

best thing is to extract the m2v and ac3 from the vobs with dvddec or smart ripper and give them to dvdlab instead.

Thanks "katjarella"!
I was using the 1.1 version, so that explains why there was no joining VOB option. I've downloaded the latest beta from the link you supplied and now I can join VOB files! Great! :D
Thanks again!

I've got DVD Lab v1.5 ... where is the join vob option

It was late and I was sleepy and didn't have time to look closer.

Does DVD Lab display or talk about this option anywhere.

Thanks ... Mach10

Yes, Mach. I told him that DVDLAb didn't join VOBS, without checking the latest version.

It most certainly does, and I was wrong.

Hence, my Oops. :D

I've seen the small guide relating to DVD2DVD-R

Everything seems to go okay but when I click start on compileing video ... error message pops up ... something reaching end of unknown file.

I wasn't using the full DVD2DVD-R guide just the section pertaining to DVDLAB.

I tried just inserting two simple videos 5 minutes each in length ... to understand how it works. I tried different variations and same error message kept popping up.

So ... hopefully a detailed guide will appear soon.

I just want to mention ... I found the joining vobs option
it works pretty good in version 1.15 but version 1.2.2 is flaky

I have both versions installed.

Is there a way to put subtitles in DVDLab? If I import VOBs with subtitles this software recognize them?

Mach10

Eh ... yeah ... I do have one subtitle set but DVDLAB changes the subtitle letters to a funky green with orangeish color around the letters ... kind of hard to read.

So yes ... DVDLAB does keep subtitles.

For some reason DVDLAB 1.15 does better job of joining vobs than the other versions 1.2 and above.

To keep version 1.15 ... winrar the folder ... then install the newer versions ... update will affect the installed DVDLAB folder with the update.

And then extract the DVDLAB files from within the DVDLAB 1.15 winrar file to a folder labeled ... DVDLAB 1.15.

Create a shortcut to the DVDLAB.exe file inside the version 1.15 folder and rename it DVDLAB 1.15 .... and you will now have two DVDLABs to use. After I use DVDLAB v1.15 to join the vobs ... I close it ... and do the rest of the authoring with DVDLAB v1.2.2

... Well, it keeps subtitles operational, but the first subtitle is marked always as English and any other as unspecified. The version I worked is 1.1. Does anybody have better news?

Check out the IFO/VOB editors forum over the next couple of days.
I'm just writing a guide for using DVD Lab to provide menus for "ready" films - simply put - films with existing IFOs/VOBs and multiple audio / subtitles are "edited" in place of short dummy films.

I gave up on using DVDLAB. DVDLab only makes on VTS title stream.

I found TMPGEnc DVD Author better.

TDA ... makes multiple VTS title sets.

I managed to keep the audio and subtitles by using the original vob files. This will work if they all have the same name.

TMPGEnc DVD Author made the DVD files with the same names.

So I moved the files TMPGEnc DVD Author made into a sub folder and copied the original vob files and pasted them ... replacing the ones TMPGEnc DVD Author made.

And the original ones will have all the audio tracks and subtitles included in the VTS_01_0.IFO and VTS_01_0.BUP files.

After I was finished with all the tweaking ... I used DVD Shrink to create another VIDEO_TS folder from those files because my little mix and match didn't quite agree with compliancy standards.

Just make sure the main movie is first in the TMPGEnc DVD Author menu because that is how you get the same names.

I did all this to the 007 Die Another Day movie.

I used Sonic Foundry Vegas Video v 4.0 to create a 6 minute clip of Bond and Zao chasing each other on the ice and the music was the Madonna - Die Another Day - Dirty Vegas Mix playing in the menu background.

I added some extra ... subtitles [well not exactly subtitles ... they were comments placed within the frames] in this clip and I also added at the end ... scrolling credits at the end of my little project.

Cool !!! ... Cool !!! .... was the closing comments. LOL

I gave up on using DVDLAB. DVDLab only makes on VTS title stream. Thats one reason of many why I'm writing the guide.

Most cheapy programs have their limitations.

DVD Lab shines with the ability to make really advanced menus and
no forced silly litte square boxes as buttons - right in the middle of a nice background!

Ifoedit does the rest -

Muxes program streams
Multiple VTS with mixed formats on one DVD
Multiple audio per VTS
Multiple Sub titles

Sure this means work - but buying a program like Scenarist is beyond me and with the amount of great guides we have here its quite a dream to be able to produce a really professional DVD with one $79 program and our beloved Ifoedit !

Soon...

Hey

I have the same problem. It pauses for 1 split second before jumping to another Title. But both titles are in the same vob. Did you find out how to correct this? I have the latest version of DVDLab.

I am wondering how you added the subtitles, in DVDLab or TMPG DVD Author. I am merging a m2v and ac3 file, and unfortunately can not use the Author feature in IFO Edit for this project as I get a jittery picture with it, but I would like to have subtitles in my project when I am finished.

I noticed nobody replied about how to join vob files in dvdlab.
I have found it in the help file:

"Joining VOB files
When importing source VOB files, DVD-lab offers a third option. That is, for DVD-lab to join together source program VOB files into one rather large but continuous file. VOB files are divided into 1GB blocks for compatibility with older systems. For joining purposes, DVD-lab requires that your first selected file is the first of the VTS_ named files such as VTS_XX_1.VOB. If you were to then select file names: VTS_XX_1.VOB , VTS_XX_2.VOB, VTS_XX3.VOB (etc.) and Drag & Drop these files into your Assets / Video & Audio bin, DVD-lab will offer a third option to join all sequential VOBs. When this option is selected, a prompt appears for the disk location of the resulting joined.VOB file which will be a very large file. Consider going out to lunch when this process starts.

When joining is completed. you will notice a joined.VOB file in your Assets / Video & Audio bin. To make this joined.VOB file into compliant elementary stream files, first remove it from your Assets / Video & Audio bin with the red X (Remove Asset). Recall that this removal just takes the file out of your bin but does not delete the file from your disk. Next, open the DVD-lab File Manager, find the joined.VOB file and double-click it to start the demultiplexing dialog as above."
