Here's a question:

I have created a DVD Shrink based DVD vobset (with ifo's etc) and all I want to do is use that vobset and create a menu for it.

i don't want to have to copy the actual vts_0x_1 vobs (disk space at a premium), but just end up with new vts_0x_0 vobs and ifo's.

The authoring tools I have looked at so far all want me to copy all the source vobs when creating the "final" DVD. I just wnat new ifo's and menu vobs.

Give Tmpeg authoring tool a try. It is supposed to incorporate a menu in a title set as stated in this link (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=55509) for a similar situation.

Thanks for the reply - but I think you may have misread what i need.

I have only, say, 5 Gb free on my disk (I know I could go and buy a bigger disk - but not right now!), with the 4.25 Gb DVD Shrink vobset I use most of it up (750 Mb left). There is still enough room to create meus and new ifo's, but no room to recreate the whole new vobset that TMPENC DVD Author et al would create. I also am not changing the source vobs themselves so don't see why I should need to "recreate" them just because I am ading a menu. If there were an option to not recreate/copy across the source vobs to the dest directory within TMPEnc then I would be a happy man - then I could just move them 4 Gb files rather than copy them!

I don't know the structure of the shrinked title set but if it a single vts set that u need to skin with a menu u can ...

create a Maestro Project that has a menu that links to a movie
build the project
and replace/merge the ifo, bups and vts_0x_0.vobs of the newly authored with the original. 'Get vts sectors' from ifoedit, test and report back.

I think that more elaborated steps can be taken here. Its a trick that should work at least in simple structured dvds.

Upon reporting back, give a little more details for the title set, a view of the original ifos etc.

If it doesn't work at your 1st attempt, consider reverse ifoupdating.

A "Reauthored" Shrink DVD has the chosen titles (or parts of titles) in separate vobsets (vts_01_1.vob, vts_02_1.vob etc).

I don't have Maestro so cannot try your suggestion at the moment - however from what you say it seems there should be ifoedit/update ways after a menu is chosen. I'll check back when I can do what you suggest.
