View Full Version : "capturing" from DVD (dumb question?)

I'm using ULEAD Video Studio to put together clips from a bunch of different video sources for a conference presentation. I've figured out the best way (for me) to capture short clips from VHS (convert analog->DV via camcorder->firewire), and to output from ULVS to DVD. Works fine. Some of my clip sources are on DVD though, and I don't get how to import that material into ULVS. If this isn't even a "capture" topic, I apologize. Apparently, some kind of file conversion is necessary, but it's still foggy to me. I can rip (DVD Decrypter) the whole source or part of it, and trim select VOB's (DVD-Shrink, trim-mode) down to the individual clips. That may not be the best approach, even for splitting VOB's, and I recall in one test losing audio. Any tips or suggestions would be very much appreciated. I'd rather not make a career out of this--at least not today. THANKS.

You're right, this doesn't fit analog capture, which uses analog video capture hardware attached to, or inside of, a computer.

I'm moving this to the DVD Authoring forum, which may be more appropriate.

If u worked in Premiere or Vegas u could frameserve the extracted audio/video to them and continue from there. This is a link (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=47483&highlight=vegas) that deals with it. U certainly can try it in ULVS, it might work.
