I only noticed this recently when someone else pointed it out to me while watching a recent DVD, although it makes sense. When I transcode a PAL DVD to a NTSC DVD, The result gives me a slightly elongated version of the actual movie. (Pal 720X576 --> NTSC 720X480)Same picture just resized, so everything looks slightly off. Is there anyway around this when transcoding in TMPG?

when you convert click settings and select advanced , make sure full screen keep aspect ratio is selected , i find if you use the project wizzard you have to set it , if you load template it is already selected

It didn't work.. My source is PAL SVCD 352x576 and i'm trying to convert to NTSC DVD 352x480..
As i preview while encoding, the video is shifted to the right, cutting off approx. 1/4 of right portion of the movie.. ?? Yes, i've checked 'Fullscreen (keep aspect ratio)'.. Actually, i've tried different setting and ALL of them seem to do the same thing--the movie is off-center??
Please advise..
Yes, i've checked 'Fullscreen (keep aspect ratio)
So uncheck this... Fullscreen is always right. The Keep aspect ratio Setting is a little dump and often the source of all evil. ;)
Source Setting has to be 4:3 Display.
And don't let TMPGEnc do any kind of Framerate-Coversion, use AVISynth to do this.
