Hey, I encountered a strange phenomena. I tried to rip Full Metal Jacket (region 2) and I went with the default procedure for DVD Decrypter 3.1.5.0. This procedure worked every time in the past.

After the rip I started dvd2avi and the preview was really bad. I started the ripping again and noticed the CSS key was different than the last time. I started decrypter few more times and the key was different every time! And dvd2avi preview was wrong also.

Then I tried ripping with smartripper 2.43 and the key was the same every time, the preview good, movie great etc.

Everybody is recommending dvd decrypter. What was the problem here? Should I change something in the CSS section in dvd decrypter? I am not into CSS you know, so I left everything on default.

There was a problem with 3.1.5.0, thats why I released 3.1.6.0

So keep on top of the updates and you'll be fine!

OK, thanks.

Since you are the one who replied, I will ask you one Q. What is the difference between ASPI and SPTI calls? Which one should I use?

Within the program, both are identical. How your system responds to them is anyones guess!

I use SPTI.... it is the default on NT based operating systems. If it works ok for you (and you'll know straight away if it does - it will find your drives!), leave it on it!
