"Not yet implemented features

1. Layer break is not removed.

2. RCE protection is not removed, due to not having a test disk with RCE. "

Can anyone tell me a Region 1 dvd that has RCE protection and I'll do my best to make sure dvdshrink gets one or two for testing purposes. I remember about 2 years ago Amazon always posted wheter or not it did. Maybe I should look back at year 2000 dvd titles.

recently....Die Another Day, but it seems to me that DVDShrink dealt with it just fine, or at least it worked by re-authoring for movie only. I didn't try ripping the title full disc, though.

AFAIK, RCE would only apply to complete disc backup situations where original PGC/IFO logic is kept. During a reauthoring, I think new IFOs are generated and are hence, RCE-free :)

Didn't know it was as simple as checking in ifoedit and hitting region free. Ok found 3 discs that have RCE protection on them that I'll get to him. Tora tora, toy story 2, and an extremely goofy movie. I sure hope dvdshrink is about 6 years old.

Isn't it true that RCE is only for region 1 discs so shouldn't it always be set to Region 1? First place I attempted to search was dvddecrypter forums but the website/forum is having dns issues currently.

I'm still using the small tool fengtao made to remove RCE checking.

He posted it on this forum last April: link (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?threadid=51047&highlight=regionfree+shrink)

I submitted a few here, and was told it was something other than RCE.

Hollow Man R1 was one of the first RCE discs.

ok I wrote basic overview of removing RCE protection using either IFO Region Free by fengtao or using DVDDecrypter.

Just Married may have RCE protection.

I did a complete backup and when played it cam up with an unsupported region. I tried region free with DVDshrink 2.3 and just region 1. both did not work. then I did just the main movie only and it works fine.

re-author in dvdshrink creates entirely new ifos so obviously RCE protection isn't a factor. Choosing just region 1 isn't related to RCE protection.

RCE Protection may still be present if you use one of these methods:
--DVDShrink in Full-Disk Mode
--DVDFAB and 'Copy Complete DVD'

However, doing the above scenarious if you first rip with dvddecrypter then RCE protection will be removed.

But, many like to process directly from the dvd to save 10 to 15 mins or whatever the time saving is. In that case after you've finished your dvd video files check with PowerDVD and it'll tell you if it has RCE protection or not.

RCE Protection isn't a factor when using one of these methods:
--DVDShrink in Re-Author mode
--DVDFAB in 'Copy main movie from DVD (split / strip)

I believe that not all RCE problems can be solved that easily in IFOEdit. There is an article on the IFOEdit site that deals with the problem

http://mpucoder.kewlhair.com/derrow/rce.html

I have also come across some disks that do not have RCE protection but that refuse to play when reauthored, giving an invalid region error (Die Hard (R1), Die Hard 2(R1)). I had to edit the navigation commands in IFOEdit to get the backups to function correctly.
