View Full Version : Programs interfere with CCE?

Hi all,

I like to multitask while encoding with CCE and was wondering if there are any programs that can screw up an encode. I had one encode a while back that showed a bad section and would occasionally lock up the DVD player. I'm not sure if it was the D2V that was bad or if something went wrong with CCE, but the original was OK. I like to surf the web, check email, watch TV on ATI TV tuner and things like that. Anyone have any ideas on the matter?

If you run W2K/XP and have a stable system, it is virtually impossible for any program to corrupt another programs process space (viruses left aside). Of course you should also avoid trying to play/modify the source video file during encoding.

Thanks RB. Good to know. I use WinXP Home.

@rb:
If it is impossible that programs cause other programs to lock/stop etc., then try to establish a connection to a irc-server with mirc while encoding sth. with cce (2.5, 2.62). mirc won`t do that!

To be honest, it's probably nothing more than a memory usage issue, CCE is an absolute memory-monster. Usually, (and I didn't say always!) there is a time-lag when starting programs while CCE is chugging away, but given enough time, they have a tendency to kick into life eventually. ...of course, there is always an exception to every rule, and you may just have found the exception to this one.

yeah.. the way xp/w2k thread certain events will delay shortly or
wont execute at all until the encode is over. i can switch windows quickly and type no issue but some events will just sit there. sometimes its hard to tell the encode is even going except for the fact my cpu is 1 million degress. other stuff you click and it just sits there. but i guess the point is they
dont seem to bother cce.. just the other way around.. just connect
to your server before you encode.

Run CCE at idle priority and other programs will be much more responsive. See CCE FAQ, Q9.

mirc works fine for me with CCE running full whack...must be your system.
