View Full Version : Shucks, I finally made a web page
trbarry

Okay, after minor nagging and major procrastination I finally figured out again how to live with M$ Frontpage. And I made a sort of real web page, at www.trbarry.com .
The reason I'm posting it here is of course that it is mostly devoted to the Downloads section, where all my Avisynth filters can be found. All of course with source.
Watch the versions or release dates posted there as I anticipate putting out small but long overdue improvements soon for UnFilter, FillMargins, TomsMoComp, and AddGrain (new).

Thank you, Tom, no need to burden doom9's servers anymore by searching and then searching again for links to your filters in the threads here;)

Ah, but grasshopper, with my filters I actually care about how they work efficiently. ;)
Besides, that web page I've had out there for the last year that everybody ragged me about was mostly hand coded.
But mostly, my daughter is currently majoring in graphic design and was having some trouble with FrontPage and I told her I would figure it out by making my overdue page with the list of filters you all have been requesting. And, in case somebody didn't notice yet, I'm currently unemployed, need work, and have my resume prominantly displayed there.

That haiku pwnz!!!
Uhhh, thanks, I guess. ;)
Can anyone give me a good definition and derivation of the word "pwnz"?
I tried to look it up and it seems to mean sort of rules, owns, etc. with a strong connotation of sexual dominance and sodomy.

Well, I guess then it sort of ties in with my thoughts about DG's reply.
A real man jogs home from his vasectomy.
[EDIT by mod: I'm not allowed to make "NoUse" posts, so I abuse my authority to commend Fred for this devastating witticism. Good one, Fred!]

pwnz is one of the 1337 (read elite) ways to say owns.
other ways include :
ownz and 0\/\/|\|2 (overkill 1337)

@trbarry: Nice page! Maybe I should give some of the filters a whirl - I've never gotten around to trying TomsMoComp. What's the bugfix you're working on?
PS. You should probably not put your "correct" email on your page, since it will be grabbed by spam-bots, quickly filling up your mailbox with

The Avisynth 2.5 version is totally broken for YUY2. It interpolates the entire frame in an ugly way, instead of applying all of Tom's magic. It's a simple fix, but I suspect Tom is preparing some other surprises for us. You can use the TMCPost() I give in the Decomb 5 thread until the real fixed one comes out if you need YUY2 under Avisynth 2.5. It works normally in the absence of Telecide(hints=1).
My idea for the email thing is to make a graphic of your email address.

There are at least 2 bug fixes I'll try to get out this weekend.
Neuron2 mentioned the one above. I never really finished or tested YUY2 support when making YV12 support for A2.5 alpha. So YUY2 is broken.
The other is a bug found by the DScaler guys that causes more jitter on still scenes, things like DVD menus or text overlays.
Finally I really would like to go back to a scheme I once tested and then took out that blends output values instead of just choosing bob or weave. GreedyHMA does that and it causes less sizzling. But I don't know if I'll get that far right now. It depends upon whether I can still find my old code, or have to rewrite it.

If it's doubling the size then it's not broken. But I'll check that when I fix the rest.

Your resume is really impressive, good luck with your job.

Thanks for you kind offer but I don't do much with electronic circuity anymore, not since I was very young. I do use a Toshiba TN55x81 RP HDTV so if you had anything to do with that, I thank you. But I already have the service manual for it and that's all I really need.

i KNEW you had some physics in you somewhere...
a couple things:
in your discription of STMedianFilter, do you mean the 26 adjacent locations? if not, i'm in need of a schooling.
i look forward to reading anything you decide to put up on the HDTV page, are you going to get the MIT120?
the code for the trades, or rather the reasoning behind why someone would want the number would be an interesting read.
you really should remove your email address... at least as it is now. you can't even leave in the address as an href. webbots will take anything in the html source that looks like blah@blah.com and add it to a spam list. some people write blah at blah . com. others have less spaces. it is unfortunate, but having a link to click on to email you is just asking for TONS of spam. a small gif would work for the page viewing, but not the linking. i think the only way to have an unbot, unspam, clickable email link is to use something like javascript.
by the way, thanks for the website.

irk! your resume is awesome :D
There are several spamproof ways of disguising your email.
You could do the old snlclan dot nl at mf and include instructions to put the last word at the front, but to me that's so cheap :D.
An alternative way is to create a javascript that has variables for:
username
at sign
domain
dot sign
extension
And assemble them in a link like this: <a href="#" onMouseUp="getEmail(username, atsign, domain, dotsign, extension)"> which would execute a location.href = mailto:username@domain.extension. Afaik spambots don't crawl through javascript , and it's more user-friendly.
Another, more playful way of doing it, is making a dHTML (don't be scared of this term, it just means CSS in conjunction with JavaScript) crossword puzzle, and letting users solve it. That should also keep away lazy noobs :D.
I've considered all these options for my own webpage, but in the end I was too lame for any of them :p so I'm giving my ideas to you.

"26 different location "
It's a 3x3x3 cube, less the center. That is all the adjacent pixels on the prev, current, and next frame.
And I thank everyone for the warnings about my email address. But basically I have been using trbarry@trbarry.com for so long now that I assume all the spam bots have long since found me and I've decided not to worry about it anymore. I have a fairly complex set of filters in place.

Tom,
what's this new AddGrain filter? Also what sort of improvements in UnFilter are we to expect?
I was happy to see that you didn't get rid of that silly poem that used to be your whole website;)
trbarry

AddGrain() will simulate film grain by random noise, optionally correlated in either the horizontal or vertical directions. (horizontal or vertical streaks) This is using SansGrip's noise generator code.
I'll also add a MotionUnFilter() option that will filter more in areas of motion.
Both of these are working but neither is ready for release yet. And the first thing I have to do is fix a couple bugs in TomsMoComp. Apparently when I made the YV12/A2.5 version I totally messed up the motion comp in the YUY2 support, and maybe some other things. And I'm fighting some strange stupid sort of summer flu right now. I've spent most of the last 2 days in bed, way too feverish to do any programming. But I think I'm getting over that now, whatever it was.

I can't stop myself and have to post that your site looks a bit *caugh* made in a hurry (like mine - but that's ok with that remarkable resume behind it :) I have only the traffic-saving argument for excusing my site ;) ).
And as OffTopic:
Why using a web-313373|2 if i coded one a year ago? ;-)
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=31500&highlight=31337 (need to get the attachment approved again as due some forum software quirks old attachments got lost)
I hope you find a good job soon Tom! All my respect,
best regards

UnDot is sort of way too simple to do anything very clever with. It's kind of the little brother to STMedianFilter, and that's where I'd probably add enhancements if I was doing something more complicated.
- Tom
PS - The fixed TomsMoComp is out now. I'll try to get AddGrain next.
edit: "Salute, Tom "the god of filters" ". That is somehow way too embarrassing to even contemplate. So while I appreciate the kind words, it's obviously not true.

Sorry Tom, I didn't mean to cause any embarrassment. I take my words back then. Just a big thanks for all your good work.
Kindest regards,
