I have ripped a movie in xvid format and have the .sub subtitle files seperately ripped.
I would now like to hard sub the two together, and end up with a hardsubbed avi file, to insert into a standalone MPEG-4 player that does not yet support seperate .sub subtitle files...
Could anyone point me out to the quickest and best of doing this?
Many thanks!

It's not possible without reencoding...

so how can I go round and reencode with the exact same settings as the original rip? Is there any way of copying and pasting the codec settings for the original rip into the hard subbed rip?

If you re-encode, even @ quantizer 1 (either DivX or XviD) the result will be awfull.
Don't re-encode.
Or find the original source and encode from that.

I'm afraid I have to re-encode. What is the best way of doing that?
