There is a reference to an available upgrade 0.28.3 --> 0.28.4 on the homepage that seem to be broken. No info regarding changes either?

I installed it and there were three things it changed, gk itself was updated (obviously), the mpeg2dec.dll was updated to 1.08 from 1.06 and i believe the other change was DVD2AVI related, but i dont remember exactly

Hi, the other change in gknot 0.28b4 is the possible usage dvd2avi 1.77.3 (with the usage of mpeg2dec3.dll v1.08 that supports now those d2v files).

Just a question. The GKnot version 0.28.4 is on CVS only, right?
Is this case, can I use the RipPack 0.28.4 beta which is available at the Sourceforge page with GKnot 0.28? Or I should use RipPack 0.28 2.1 only? :) What about the CodecPack 1.3?
Thanks

1) Codec pack was just updated to include may releases of XviD and ffdshow. you don't have to reinstall it unless you want those new versions...
2) 0.28.4 is not only in CVS, it's an update to 0.28.3 which has full install. So if you have 0.28 (or no versions) you have to install 0.28.3 and then upgrade to 0.28.4
P.S. ot better wait for 0.28.5 with full install, which is coming soon.

Hello len0x.
A small suggestion..
In GK's Bitrate tab you choose the Audio Bitrate.. right?
My suggestion is: In the Encoding Control Panel, in Audio tab to auto-fill the audio bitrate box with the bitrate you chose before.

Requests:
When a new .d2v is opened in GK,
1. Crop should become disabled
2. Resized option should become unticked
3. Audio-file selection should be cleared

This is exactly what I don't plan to do at all, since if you do lots of TV shows eps then you need almost all those settings present...

I'm ripping the Buffy The Vampire Slayer set which is a TV show (batch encodes, 2-4) & it become very confusing; Crop changes every time, some are 4:3 some 16:9 & audio has to change with every new input this is the case 99% of the time!
At least an option to clear these would very useful for the majority of the users, I’m sure.

Hey, I'm doing the same atm :)
But what I don't understand is - within one season you always have the same crop&aspect - or you doing something strange like ripping from first three seasons and then from 4-6 seasons and then from first again? (which I don't see the point of doing...)
About audio - yes, it is changed everytime but you have to specify source of it anyway, so it makes no difference for me to overwrite previous settings or zero settings. Or I'm missing something ?

Well I get what ever is available at blockbuster so sometimes it's 4:3 sometimes 16:9. Oh, and this doesn’t mean I don’t own them, I may have lost them or they may have been damaged.
I would rather have audio input set to N/A when a new d2v is inputted; see I’m using 348MB per episodes, 2 episodes per CD so I can keep the original AC3 audio. So far two times I forgot to insert the next episodes audio which can be an easy mistake IMO. If there is nothing in the “Size” section of “Audio” I know I haven’t inputted anything yet, same theory applies for “Crop”
OT:
This are my settings:
Video
Video Encoder: DivX 5.05
MPEG4 Tools: Bidirectional Encoding
Passes: 4
Resize Filter: Neutral Bicubic
Field Operations: Field Deinterlace
What are yours? any tips for me? :)

How about this: you load one type of eps (1-3 season) crop, resize etc. with no audio set. Then export it as Movie1 in profiles. Then do the same for second type of eps and export as Movie2. That's it - all you have to do is just load them afterwards and you have all settings correct (including no audio...)
About settings for Buffy (R2):
Resolution: 512x384 (Seasons 1-3), 608x336 (Seasons 4-6)
Size: 351M
Sound: AC3
Codec: divx 5.0.5
Codec settings: no pro options (i.e. no bi, no psy), 4 passes
Resize method: Lanczos
Filters: FieldDeinterlace(blend=false) for first three season, none for the rest.
I found that no blend option works better on many not properly interlaced TV shows (like buffy). And starting from season 4 it's pure progressive apart from the credits, which include parts from previous seasons, so they are still interlaced, but I don't care about that (it looks quite ok even without deinterlacing there).
