VHS to DVD and converting to YV12

I am converting VHS to DVD and was wondering if it would be worth it to convert to YV12 for the speed benefit, or would the degredation in quality be too great to warrant the conversions? I use CCE Basic to encode and it appears that it does not accept YV12.
